SICP playing for Catholic Green title against Joliet Catholic this weekend

the big game is Mt. Carmel at Loyola. 1-2 in the state. My nephew plays for MC so I might go if I can get a ticket, or hang out at Meyer's. I'll have to hoof it after SICP sophomores in the morning in Joliet.

playoffs in two weeks

The Loy Boys are a four point favorite, put $50 on them.

As someone who grew up in Wilmette, I will offer the wish that the entire Loyola squad and cheering section gets fucked up the ass with the Pope's socialist cock.

I'm a little conflicted here, but in the end, I share much of this wish.

Any day a Loyola team loses is a very good day. Same for Ignatius. I'm ambivalent about Mt. Carmel.

Ignatius moving the Ohio St commit to FB was smart.

His production this year isn't eye popping but teams are triple teaming him. The other side of the line moves backwards even in that scenario. His side to side quickness is unreal for a 300 pound guy.

I wasn't at the game. That will be an interesting development going forward. I think he started out in his freshman year as a running back. Ignatius is pretty strong at the back positions but they are not big. They really should not be in 8A

SICP plays at Joliet West. We were seeded far too low, but that is a favorable first round draw. Max Preps has them ranked around 100 with an 8-1 record while Ignatius is in the 30s at 6-3. It would be really nice for me if they played in park ridge in the second round and then loyola in the third. Repayment for making me go out to Joliet in consecutive weekends.

Ignatius wins 39-6 in an away game against a higher seeded Joliet West.

Even more importantly, my boy played most of the 4Q at center with his older cousin at guard. It was a fun moment.

They play Huntley next at Ignatius for some reason, even though Huntley is the higher seed. I won't question it after being in Joliet two weekends in a row. Tough draw and it should be one of the best games in 8A this week.

If you play away and win the first week, your next game is at home, if your opponent played week 1 at home.

The fuck? They penalize good teams for being good?

Seeding is simply a process of wins and opponents wins. No one votes on seeds. Therefore the team with less home games hosts. In a case of a tie, the higher seed hosts.

Doesn’t that penalize a great team that beat other good teams? I feel like I’m missing something here.

Sometime it does, most of the time it evens out for the better teams who go 7-2 or 6-3 in better conferences. Walter Payton Prep was the #1 seed in class 5a. They were 9-0 and probably wouldn't have made the playoffs if they were in any other conference. They lost 50-0 to the 16 seed in round one. The top 256 teams by record are sorted into 8 classes on pairings night. Voting on seeds is not practical.

I saw that Payton seeding. Those chooches really do think they are a legitimately good program, as they beat down on schools who start foreign exchange students. I have had to bite my tongue around a couple of people in the neighborhood. I have another friend whose kid started on varsity at Northside since freshman year. She (yeah, I know) really thought that meant her kid was going to be a big time recruit.

That explains it. I saw that Sterling beat the living hell out of them and I was a bit surprised at a 16 doing that to a 1.

Add that to things I learned this fall about high school football. Apparently there is 8 man football in the state.

If your football team attracts condescension from an Ignatius guy, your team must be pitiful indeed

I don't think there is a tournament for 8 man yet, but one of my relatives who lives downstate thinks that they will have one starting in 2025.

Some of those 8 man teams have 12 total players on their squad, from high schools with total enrollment under 100.

It's true

but ignatius has been pretty prominent over the last decade beyond its normal strengths like girls sports and yachting

30 teams was the last thing I saw. Amboy/Lamoille/Ohio apparently coop for a year. I thought Ohio cooped with Princeton but apparently I am wrong. Ohio has 24 kids last I saw, they should probably fold into Bureau Valley. Lamoille has less than 100 (Probably should fold into Mendota or Princeton if there is room) and Amboy has a a couple hundred. From what I saw there is tournament but it is not IHSA sanctioned.

Definitely true. Always been good in girls sports and cross country and track, too.

The school also produces some perfectly awful caddies.

I learned 8 man football was a thing out there when some hayseed cut in during the middle of a good song on the radio to begin pregame of a Saturday afternoon 8 man football game. I figured Amboy High School was large enough to field a full 11 man team.
