Hawaii down 21-0, and they just turned the ball over again. Arizona State looked like crap, although they did win. OSU is in the national championship. Looks like the Illini are going to Pasadena.

On one hand, I'm quite happy, because who the hell would have thought that the Illini would make a BCS bowl. On the other hand, I'm upset, because I've already purchased my plane tickets to Orlando. C'est la vie, I suppose.

Don't be so sure Irish Boy it all depends on the bowls and who they want. If they feel there is a sexier matchup for USC, they can reach out and grab any BCS eligible team and since the lose OSU, they can grab first I think and take Georgia if they are on the board.

(Personally I think they will take the Illini, but I saw this happen in 2002 with Iowa going to the Orange)

So Illini vs USC? I really hope Illini wins but I would think USC would be heavily favored in this.

Is that true doug? They were giving 19 to UCLA at home and UCLA has nowhere near the talent of Illinois on both sides of the ball. Jump on the 19.

I would bet it would be 14.5 to start. My guy would probably stick me with 13 at kickoff because of so many big ten clients.

HV, you forgot that the BCS amended the rules in the wake of the Rose Bowl threatening to pull out after the Iowa/Orange fiasco in 2002. In this instance the Sugar would have had a right of first refusal on any SEC team in light of the fact that LSU, the Sugar host team, was going to Championship game. Arguably this rule cleared the way for the Illini to get picked for the Rose.

It is kind of ironic that USC fans are complaining about getting "stuck" with Illinois. Reminds me of 23 years ago when Illini fans were upset that UCLA won the PAC10 title instead of a higher ranked, I want to say, Washington squad.

In all honesty, I would have rather seen the Illini in an early morning new year's day game against a more equal opponent. It would have made the annual new year's day party more interesting as people would be there at 10 a.m.

I'll be rooting for the Illini, but I won't be able to stop thinking about the 'Cats loss in Champaign. If the ref doesn't blow that call, you never know . . .

i'll be probably rooting for the illini cos their story was good this year, and usc goes to the rose bowl every year...i like carroll and i like their program, but i'd like to see illinois knock them off.

but i don't think it's going to happen...then again, i thought ohio st was gonna own illinois, and instead they got pwned.
