WOW! Ollie let Tracy Webster go today, but kept David Booth. Ollie Ollie! You have a 7 year deal, you aren't going anywhere, now you need to repair some more damage between you and the Chicago High School pimp coaches. Should have kept Webster for at least 1 year to get your foot in the door, maybe you even find out that you liked the guy and he had more talent that just getting you connections. I am not saying Coach Oll cant get his own foot in the door and over time he should be able to mend this issue, but why not take the easy way in? |

There was at least one coach quoted in the Sun Times on the day of Purnell's hiring that said if they fire Webster they can forget the Public League. I agree with your sentiments Bigfan. At the same time, the great Tracy Webster wasn't exactly mining big time talent from there anyway. |

How did having Tracy Webster on staff work for the past two years? Calipari and the basketball elite are going to take the future NBA talent with or without him. Do you really want to fight for scraps? Of course you do your best but any team that thinks that the Chicago Public League is the key to long term success will fail. You'd be better making inroads in Illinois recruiting ground like Peoria. There are plenty of local teams that succeed without any players from the Public League and very few who succeed because of them. I'm trying to think, and outside of the few "one and done" talents that have come out, which teams really use the Public League to build a successful program? |
