Looks like Mike Kafka will get the starting job. Brewer may get some PT at the slot position. CJ Bacher (the only guy with any actual field experience so far) looks like he is third on the depth chart, but that is likely because he is not 100% healthy.

I think this is the best way to go. Although he will have a brutal year, NU has always done a nice job of developing QB's by their junior and senior years.

Me too. It is going to be a tough year. Not to mention everyone one on our horrible The boy will have a lot to learn, but he's got the physical ability and mind to become something great over time. And he's got a nice Czech existentialist's authors name... that's gotta count for something.

Over/Under on the number of times a Kafka reference is brought up if he actually is a 4 year starter: 100 (every single game would be 48 alone, but you know ESPN will make a point of saying something on every highlight).

Fitz just wanted a southside kid to play right away :-)

Actually his hands were tied - it's too bad they didnt have someone with experience to step in - luckily Kafka will have Sutton and a good OL to work with.

This could be the start of something very good in 2 years for the Cats.

Can you wait that long GD? In the here and now Big Ten, this year might be tough for the Cats but look at Iowa, they shared a Big Ten title with Drew Tate as a sophomore. There is no reason that they should be looking past that now.

Speaking of which, the first game at Miami will be tough. In Iowa's 11-2 year, Miami about got em in Oxford.

At NU, you have to be willing to wait that long. They simply do not have the ability to have sustained success over a long stretch. I think they will always be a team that peaks and troughs depending on the experince/skill of their QB and RB.
