@HerbGould: #illini opener with Kent State is postponed until 1 p.m. Saturday, No television. That’s official.

That's awful. No reason why they can't have another alternate BTN slot open.

Besides, looking at the radar - it's cleared up now. It'd be better to have it on TV late night than not at all.

I don't have high hopes for this year.

But, next year, when Wes Lunt grows a beard, my expectations will increase.

I was going to watch this game. Can't believe they can't find a spot on Saturday TV for this.

yeah seriously, what's channel 50 doing tomorrow afternoon? there isnt even room for this on comcast 100 or whatever that kinda-sorta-CSN-channel-number-3 is that shows the HS sports and "INSIDE NEW TRIER JV VOLLEYBALL" and stuff like that?

you figure the first game in the post-beckman era would be a draw for many curious folks, let alone the dreamy dr ken demo that always has disposable cash to spend on whatever the advertisers wanna toss on there. wtf is going on here? isn't this why god invented ESPNU?

.....or has illinois fallen THAT far?

you know whats amazing about 2015? let's say that you're 3/4 in the bag while watching illinois this fall and it occurs to you that the name "Wes Lunt" is two letters away from being "Wet Caller Bob" and HOLY MOTHER OF LOL THAT'S FUCKING HILARIOUS! welp, when you do what you're supposed to do and take that wanton thought to twitter, i bet if you searched on "Wet Caller Bob" you'd see that no less than 50-500 people already had that thought b4 you over the last year or so.

anytime that you think you just unearthed this timeless pun/nickname that's bound to gain traction in the hopes of going "viral" (btw, its funny to see what established/"old" media thinks about the kids and their DIY/internet-borne stuff nowadays, eh? getting popular without the media = "going viral" like anything that isnt given to us by the media is a virus, you know?)

AHEM. yeah in 2015 and beyond anytime that you think you just came up with something !!!! rest assured that no less than 50-500 people have already thought it up and tweeted it. i hope i'm still around in ~40-60 years when old country singers can sing about the blues that they got when they realized they were born too late to get a decent twitter handle, eh? =D

btw, i bet you get no less than 10k-100k people who just half-assed it and went with "Wes Caller Bob" after a bad play/series/game/etc

The only reason to watch Illinois-Kent State is for wagering purposes. The Cubs and NU will occupy my early Saturday viewing.

You so realize that if they paid money for inventing a FONT, you could really have something there.

I know they have a chance to go to a minor bowl, but it still is nice to see one of our state schools in any bowl game.

I think they are about to finish a new football complex attached to the Stadium. Will it be cool? Dont know, but its the kind of tool that you need and should give to a new AD....

As we have seen in Chicago a new stadium facelift doesnt always mean a nice place relative to others.

It was impressive.

It is rare when you can outcoach Darrell Hazell.

Between the Illini QB & his 2 RB's,there is some impressive football talent right there.

The Illini can do some things right.
