Call me Harry if you will, but I wanted to plug my iTunes show. We have three NFL preview shows up. Should have another up tomorrow. Check us out in iTunes and search "sports talk underground" if interested.

Also, the website is www.sportstalkunderground.com or you can go to rarn.net to listen to our shows. Go to our home site for a chance to win some stuff with our Ultimate Listener Contest.

We also are accepting phone calls for Rome like takes. Right now we are specifically looking for people to call in our voicemail with their Superbowl 41 predictions.

Thanks for giving us a shot if you check us out.

Very nice website. I wish you the best of luck (in spite of you ridiculing my politics).

I note that you have not listed any Southeastern Conference football venues on your "places I've been." Allow me to highly recommend that you spend a Saturday night in the fall at one of the shrines in Oxford, Starkville, Baton Rouge, et al.

I'd like to go to Baton Rouge. Sorry on the politics. I just can't stand extremists. Whether its Al Franken telling me how to think or Sean Hannity or Ann Coulter.....I just think these people stall any progress of people wanting to understand others, being truthful, and pushing America forward. They just keep people pissed off at each other and turn someone like me more in them iddle completely off and even when they might have a good points, its hard for someone like me to take them seriously. Makes me sick. I didn't bother to get to much in depth about it because I didn't feel like typing a 1000 word post. Thanks for looking at my site!

Aha! You've picked the best one! Auburn's "Jordan-Hare" is a close second, followed by "Neyland" in Knoxville.

Sweet memories of my drunken youth.

We did the North a couple weeks ago. Our college football show we are going to start hammering down this weekend. Going to try and hook up with Hood this weekend and knock that interview down. I'm looking forward to it and he said he was looking for a reason to wipe the dust of his college football preview mags. :P

As a guy who lived in SEC country for a time (I was a Yankee, not a damn Yankee -- a damn Yankee is one who stays), we should recognize there is a huge difference between the SEC and other major conferences. The football quality may be comparable, but the fans treat it very differently. The most ardent Big Ten fans are still pretty polite. The most ardent SEC fans will kill each other. You know how around here you will see an occasional college fan hanging a flag of their school on Saturdays? In the South, you are conspicuous if you're not hanging two flags out front...old glory and your SEC team. Saturdays in the South are a religion....and they all go to church.

I'm also reminded of the apropro lyrics from Randy Newman's "Rednecks"......

We talk real funny down here
We drink too much and we laugh too loud
We're too dumb to make it in no Northern town
And we're keepin' the geniuses down

We got no-necked oilmen from Texas
And good ol' boys from Tennessee
And college men from LSU
Went in dumb. Come out dumb too
Hustlin' 'round Atlanta in their alligator shoes
Gettin' drunk every weekend at the barbecues
And they're keepin' the geniuses down

Top Five SEC Venues
1. Red Stick. At night when the college boys have been drinkin all day is really special. Just don't wear anything that's not the colors of the Bayou Bengals or you will get drowned in a beer bath by the cajun welcome wagon.

2. Big Orange Country. If you wear something on game day in Knoxville that's not orange, you will be safe at least. But not welcome. "You're not from around here, are ya?" They put 100k in Neyland on game day. Have you ever seen 100 thousand fat drunk southerners dripping BBQ down their shirts? It's special.

3. Gainesville. If you appear to be rooting for the opponent, expect beer bottles to be thrown at you. And the police will laugh. It's part of the charm of THE most dangerous stadium in America for visitors (and that includes USC's Coliseum which is smack in the hood). Part of the home field advantage in Gainesville is that after you go there once, you don't ever want to return.

4. The Prettiest Little Village on the Plains. Auburn fans are pretty polite...considering they are from Alabama. Colors don't matter much but one thing that does is never ever EVER yell "Go Bama". I saw a guy do that once. He may still be in jail there.

5. Cock Country. There is something about sitting in that stadium in Columbia and having thousands of people yell "Go Cocks" repeatedly. When I went there, the team sucked. It's probably even more electric this year with the Evil Genius on the sidelines.

I put L.S.U. first because it is the only sporting event that I have attended where I actually feared for my life. Rather exciting in a terror-filled kind of way. It may have had something to do with my Ole Miss hat, logo shirt and tie (and the mighty Rebels prevailing didn't help).

I never made it to Gainesville. Carolina wasn't in the SEC when I was down there. I only saw the Razorbacks in Little Rock, and they were still in the Southwest Conference at the time.

Where did you live Coast?

Thanks guys for the feedback. These preview shows are pretty much informative with opinions on how we think each team's season will play out. We try to get a little more in depth by actually talking about specific offensive line play and overall quality depth on the teams. As for the regular general shows, we will in deed try to kick it up a notch. We are trying to make it more interactive as we had done more e-mail segments in the past, we now have a voicemail number for listeners to call in, and we have a new segment where we have to disagree. I appreciate the listen and will take these criticisms to heart to try and be better. We are releasing the other four shows for NFL coverage this week.

This Saturday, we are interviewing Scott Wright from NFLDraftcountdown.com - he's basically the Mel Kiper of the net...Amazing the stuff he knows. We also will be interviewing J Hood at that time as well for our college football preview.

I agree. We do need to turn up the heat, bring more opinions and a bit more fire to the table. I plan on doing that once we re-start our new general shows again.

Again, thanks for listening. We' seen our numbers spike this month as we now are in the top 100 listened sports podcasts (#77) which is cool considering there are like ten of the spots devoted to ESPN and another 5-10 of other national crap ranked ahead of us.

HA! Yes, We'll plug it every break we have and make numerous mentions of it throughout the show, haha.

And when we get you on to preview NBA, we'll plug our jump to number one.

Nas, what are we stealing? We have over a thousand listeners so someone gives a shit about us. We have about 20 emailers who regularly email us. How do we get better?

First segment is just a run down of events that have taken place. It's a podcast and most of our listening audience from what I understand don't listen heavily to sports talk radio all day like we do. As for the segment name or idea, we've all had the discussion already that pretty much all radio bits are stolen. If you are referring to First and Ten being ripped off from Ten @ ten I'll inform you that we've started the show off just like this since 2004, before ten @ ten. Our other segments are a bit more heated like Drop The Hammer and Devil's Advocate. And no, wouldn't say you are in the minority. I appreciate the feedback, will take it to heart and improve upon it hopefully. Your opinion has more weight to it than most of our listeners that think everything is funny and great. We needed some criticism. Give us a critique on iTunes. We have 5 reviews of 5 stars. We need a dose of reality in there. Thanks for listening Nas.

Thanks gd for continuing to be a little bitch.

I can't really tell if it is taken in the good natured way it is intended. Ryan seems more than capable of taking a joke so I don't think I offend. If not, for the record, RYAN IS OK BY ME!
