Hey Everyone!

My band Miles is playing at Quenchers on Friday 12.16.16 with Goalie Fight, Idle Rich, & Vamplifier
https://soundcloud.com/miles-project/sets/ego-alter

Quenchers is at the northeast corner of Fullerton and Western.
The blue line is 4 blocks south at Armitage.

2401 N Western Avenue
Chicago IL USA 60647
(773) 276-9730

It is a pretty cool bar & venue and their beer menu is sweet balls.
http://www.quenchers.com/beer

The cover is $6 and the bands will start at 9pm. We are playing 2nd (or 3rd), so I would guess around 10:00 (or 11). Logan Hardware arcade is across the street...

So, come on out and say hi!

It will have only been 615 days since our last show!

GOALIE FIGHT

GOALIE FIGHT! is exactly what it sounds like - loud, awkward, hilarious and generally unnecessary. laugh, scratch your head, and enjoy.

THE IDLE RICH

Scissoring feverishly since 2003 to bring you all the best in neurotic noise. Punk/Grunge/Blues.

MILES

Draws on the dissonance and character of stoner rock, the methodical pace of sludge and doom, and the progressive style that has surfaced from their home base of Chicago.

VAMPLIFIER

Vamplifier is a trio featuring Scott Shehan (lead guitar/ vocals), Jane Hanna (bass/ keys/ vocals), and Chris Negrete (drums/ vocals). Their songs are eclectic, genre-bending, and totally satisfying. If they were a food, they'd be a crunchy artisanal taco, with a side of ranch for dipping. Shehan's toothsome, visceral guitar leads and raw-but-earnest vocals are evocative of his heroes Joe Strummer and Iggy Pop. Hanna’s background as a classically trained pianist and instructor at the Old Town School of Folk Music lends a unique melodic groove to the bass. Negrete (love child of Luke Skywalker and Keith Moon) is a former member of punk supergroup Soft Targets. With their new EP, Rogue Moon, Vamplifier are once again redefining themselves as undefinable. Power pop mixes with garage rock in these tunes that are at once spooky, beautiful, soaring, menacing, bizarre, precious, untamed, and refreshing. Available now on Invertabrata Records.

Consider me skeptical that Boyd and DS will be there. If I was certain that they would be, I would make an exception to my 9:30 bed time and show up even though I have zero interest in music.

I may require that DS heads down Rte 31 and picks me up on the way. I'd rather him get the DUI than me.

Kinda out of the way. You can catch a ride from the estates if you like. I will be staying late and eating tacos after 2am and there a good chance I'll masturbate during the drive back on 90.

Dude, I live right off I-90! But I get it, I am Southwest of you. You're too far north.

Ok that place is off Western. Maybe I take the MDW line to Western.

Our weekends from now until the end of the year are pretty much jam packed, so I will likely be a gametime decision.

Quencher's is the first real "beer bar" that I can think of. Others have come along and done it more seriously since, notably Map Room which isn't that far away. Earle has always had a manager who he pretty much let run the bar the way he wanted to. My fantasy baseball league which I'm gonna say is the oldest in continuous existence anywhere was started there in the early 80s by one of the managers, Dave Weisbecker and a few others. We used to meet there every Thursday, but when they started having bands it kind of ran us out of there. It ran out the Puerto Rican cigar club too, though I guess they would have eventually been gone anyway what with the ban on smoking.

Message boarding is serious business to Apologist. No funny business at all. Ever.

And the answer to your question is Logan Square.

I doubt this is happening. Doug and his wife seem to be going deep off grid in Buena Vista like William and Dolores in Westworld. Disney has them now.

Do we have an official "in" roster for this yet? I'm going to try to make it.

Post subject:  Re: I have a show! Miles @ Quenchers 12.16.16

yeah holy shit, when i saw the thread title i was like "quenchers? as in armitage and western quenchers?" and by the time i finished reading doug-ep's OP i had my question answered and thensome. solid joint.

last time i was there for a concert i'm pretty sure louis logic was there doing a gig in support of his then-new EP/LP "the great divide" which in and of itself was a legit *cosmic groan* cuz "the great divide" seemed to be a bold step in a new and fresh direction--- "growing up" from the guy who made postal and of course "dos/factotum" (like that's where i didn't first learn what "factotum" was/meant/etc) into someone older and wiser enough to try and realize "relationship songs have a more universal appeal than "doing an [admittedly fantastic] eminem impression" --- lamentably i think he failed to see that his longtime/bigtime fans of his would also grow older/wiser in terms of not hanging on to memories of one of your old top-10 emcees up on a pedestal and would actually just kind of *shrug* and move on when "the great divide" seemed to be a way more meta-title than it let on.

AHEM. so what i was really getting at (outside of the usual egregiously self-absorbed / out-of-context TLDR) was that i remember quenchers fondly as "one of the cooler beer snob places" (as they used to have it where their "menus" up behind the bar were handwritten in chalk so they could cover ~150+ types of beers for even the most discerning beer-snob (on this side of sheffield's invite-only beer tasting meetups anyways =) and yeah, given what it is and what they're trying to do i reckon quenchers is a bit more "down" read: "accessible" in terms of not being $7.50+/beer no matter how you wanna roll.

the actual concert venue is rather "intimate" in my opinion, so combine with that lack of an egregious cover charge and relatively-affordably priced beer snobbery beers for as far as the eye can see / chalk can write? yeah holy shit congrats to you and yours doug, cuz having a gig at quencher's is a "proper gig" IMO =D
