Does anyone have a good recommendation on a place that could look at a 1980 Mercedes 450 SLC to retrofit/repair the air-conditioning system in a car like that?

I would prefer the Western Suburbs but I'm open. Just need a good place. The car is all original.

Thanks.

I guess to be more clear - looking for a good foreign car auto shop.

Call first, but I'm thinking there is a good chance they can handle it.

Probably too far for you but Rolf's in Evanston has always done good work on my old Benzes.

My brother's shop is right by RTS in Elk Grove. I see cars from pre-1970 in there.

Just call and ask for Craig. He knows everything about cars....

It is not really a vintage shop. When he bought the place a few years back, the previous owner had a clientele that drove their cars forever and/or bought used cars that needed work. I am always amazed at the older cars in that place.

My brother worked for Acura for a long time, then opened his own place. Several of my brothers are entrepreneurs. I posted previously about the one who roasts coffee in Roselle.

A good place in Oak Park, while considered a western suburb it's just a few blocks past Austin Blvd.
