I know there's a few guys from the area on the board.

Berkots have opened a new store between Frankfort and New Lenox on Laraway. A 12 pack of Warsteiner (my beer of choice) costs $8.99, normally it's in the $12.99 range. I'm an import drinker so deals are to be had on Amstel, Heineken etc etc. I also believe the domestics are a good deal. Grab these loss leaders while they last.

It would take less time to fly to Frankfort Germany and drink their beer locally.

So for guys who have spent time in Germany...good experience? Bad experience? The thing I remember most about Germany was that many people seemed to dislike Americans. Service to Americans in restaurants, bars, etc. seemed to be intentionally slow and inconsiderate. In ski lift lines in Austria and Switzerland, the Germans seemed to go out of their way to whack Americans or cut in front of them. It is the only time in my life I have felt like a minority. I had the feeling they were still pissed at us for kicking their ass in the Big War. Or maybe they are just a rude lot. Or maybe I just have that effect on people  But when it comes to Beer, I'll happily consume nearly all Kraut products.

I had nothing but great treatment in both Germany and it's little brother, Austria. I had multiple day stays in places as diverse as Berlin, Munich and Baden-Baden and felt nothing but secure and well recieved. A mom and her daughter sat down on either side of me, unsolicited, at Oktoberfest and swayed me around to the sounds of an oompah band. Unfortunately I missed out on the international mother-daughter menage.

This was in the early 90's, so post wall destruction eurphoria may have been present.

I was in Frankfort once when North & I went to the Dennis DeYoung mansion; I kept discreetly hitting on his daughter; saw his big-ass recording studio in the house; those were The Best Of Times!
