Tried Chivas Regal for the first time tonight. The bottle I sampled was the standard 12 y.o. scotch whisky, mixed malt (40% malt, 40% alcohol by volume.) I was turned on to the single malt Glenlivit earlier this year, and it has become my drink of choice on special occasions (like Fridays). Chivas has an entirely different character; far lighter, with hints of honey, butterscotch, and (IMO) caramel. The Glenlivit is perfect for sitting down with friends and enjoying conversation, perhaps with appetizers and hors d'oeuvres; Chivas is a better drink for the end of the night with dessert or for celebrations. Well worth the price.

I've got an unopened bottle of Chivas in my closet that someone gave me for Christmas last year. I don't drink the stuff and I have been trying to give it away, so far unsuccessfully. If you want it let me know.

Oh man, I'm all over that! Send me a PM and we can work out the details.

It's my reward to myself. I have plenty of other drinks for regular occasions (although I don't drink beer.) Chivas was recommended by a professor who knows that I, like him, enjoy a good scotch every now and again.

Scotch is a wonderful drink if you like neat liquor. I always love a good scotch neat or on the rocks. I personally prefer the milder Glenlivit or Cutty but there is no doubt that Chivas is quality all the way. I would never ever in a million years consider mixing scotch.
A nice warm fire, and three fingers of scotch is a nice way to warm up on a winter evening.
Folks, if you don't like the hard stuff, stay away from the scotch.
One nice side benefit of scotch it that I never get a hangover from it.

I'll have three fingers of Glenlivet, with a little bit of pepper...and some cheese.
