Now that the golf season has started, I'll be pretty busy and not posting too much, not like anyone cares. But, when you want to play this year shoot me a PM or email me at dbury@golfnow.com and I'll be sure to knock a few bucks off or just have you play for free. We just signed on all the Chicago Forest Preserve courses so even if you don't like the nice public facilities like Klein Creek, Makray Memorial or The Sanctuary...there is always Billy Caldwell. So, hopefully I can help some of you out this summer and maybe we can even meet up on the first tee somewhere. Thanks

Homeslice - where are you? I love Glynn's Creek near Bettendorf. Byron Hills in Port Byron, IL is a decent course. Deere Run is great.

Camanche...just south of Clinton...about half an hour north of the Quad Cities...never played Glynn's Creek but heard very good things...ditto on Byron Hills...Deere Run looked like a fun course the couple times I watched the PGA tournament down there but I vowed to never spend the money to golf there until I got good enough to enjoy it...that being said, I haven't golfed in over a year, so that probably won't happen any time soon.

3 Galena courses is the only thing i'd have available to be able to move prices or tee times for you.

Does the search function work on your website? I was just checking the deals at Fox Bend and I can't seem to get any to come up. I don't have an immediate plan to golf, but when I do it will likely be there or nearby.

I played Deere RUn a few years ago and at the time I was a high 80's golfer (pre-surgery, pre-really horrible back issues) and it ate me up to the tune of 108 or something like that. The best advice they gave us all day was to play a tee forward to what we normally would since the distance on the guard plays 2-400 yards longer. So we played the fronts at 6000 and the next set was 6400. I could only imagine my score a tee box back.

I need to bump this post, because I cannot simply say enough about how great this website is.

Anyone on this board that is an avid golfer needs to visit GolfNow.com. They offer the best deals I have ever seen for courses all across the nation, and even offer rewards to those who make multiple bookings. I just had the chance to golf 18 holes, cart and tax included, in Denver two days ago for $32.00 a person. Since this was my 5th booking through the website, I will also be receiving a FREE fairway wood from Upswing Golf.

Buryman is running a helluva website, so go out and support it.

Post subject:  Re: Chicagoland Golf...

Just wanted golfers to know The Sanctuary in New Lenox is having a pre-pay special this Saturday and Sunday on all times after 11:30am. I'm in control of pricing and not one time is over $29 per player for 18 holes with GPS enabled cart. There is not much left before 1:30pm on Saturday but Sunday still has some 12:30pm times open and later.
If you want to get out there either afternoon, you won't pay over $20 per player. Hit me up.
Also, plenty of Labor Day afternoon specials to choose from all over Chicagoland.

Have to be "that guy" and let you all know if you need help finding a tee time this summer in Illinois or Michigan shoot me a DM, email, phone call, facebook message, tweet...just let me know and I'd be happy to help you out. Michigan really needs to get going this summer and we have added some good courses and I think many of them will be aggressive with rates so road trip time.

Ok thanks for reading this, sorry to bog you down with another thread to read pubing something you might not care about.

Not ripping Buryman's website. Sounds like a good idea. I just prefer the $20 cash advance and a "When can I get on" seems to work pretty well too. Of course if you NEED a time, that doesn't work

WTF is a Billy Caldwell?

Post subject:  Re: Chicagoland Golf...

Billy Caldwell a.k.a. Chief Sauganash lived in Chicago in the 1820s and 1830s, but that's not important now.

Billy Caldwell Golf Course is a Cook County Forest Preseve course at 6200 Caldwell Ave. in the Sauganash neighborhood.

Have to bump my thread since this is a pretty cool option for any golfer in the Chicagoland area.

The private Bull Valley Golf Club in Woodstock, IL is offering GolfNow.com golfers an opportunity to come out and play. The course was ranked #30 on America's 50 Toughest Golf Courses - Golf Digest March 2007.

Monday, June 8th, 2009 - 10:00am shotgun start. Only $60 per player includes 18 holes of golf with GPS enabled cart, practice balls and tax included. Prizes will be awarded for long drive and closest to the pin. Continental breakfast, beverage service and box lunch all available for cash purchase.

Reserve your spot today by clicking on the link on this information page linked below. Whether you are playing as a single or bringing a foursome, we welcome any number of players to register for the event. I'll add a FREE reward round to any CSFMB members if they play in this event. I'll buy you a bber if that is what is going to get you out there. Hope to see you there.

I need to bump this too, because this site is great. I've used it probably half a dozen times this summer, and I don't think I've paid more than $40 for a round of golf thru it. On some of those Forest Preserve courses, its dirt cheap. River Oaks and Burnham Woods can be had for like $23 a man for 18 w/cart.

That said...any sort of specials or times up for Labor Day yet, buryman?

Author:  buryman [ Thu Aug 27, 2009 9:43 am ]
Post subject:  Re: Chicagoland Golf...

Thanks for the bump Frank. Labor Day specials have been quiet so far. I'd say next Monday - Wednesday is when course managers will be getting them to me. They will load Monday as weekend rates but many courses will lower them and offer specials. Give me a couple options and I'll see what I can do.

New course just added for the south side golfers. Deer Creek in University Park, IL. No rate over $30 and most around $20-$25 per player including riding cart.

Sounds good. We have 2 friends in from Springfield for the holiday weekend and they are on a budget...so, cheap. My guess is we'll end up doing 2 or 3 of the Forest Preserve courses. I only asked beacuse the only thing up on the site (as of yesterday) was Water's Edge, and while I don't mind paying 50 or 60 for a round (especially on a holiday weekend at a nice course), thats pricing out our 2 buddies.

We'd be looking for an afternoon tee time on Saturday the 5th, and a mid-late morning on Labor Day. Thanx!

Meadows of Blue Island is a cheap course in the area, Coyote Run is the best conditioned facility in that area, you are not far from The Sanctuary in New Lenox which is awesome as well. I will probably be able to get you out to Water's Edge for cheaper than $50/$60 depending on the day. Take a look 7 days in advance and then let me know via DM or email.

I caddied there from 2001 till 2005. I know every nook and cranny of that place. They have GPS on the carts so you'll be fine even without a stud pro jock like me, hahaha.

It's a good course, but many think over-priced because of the area it's in. It's always in good condition, some really good holes (1, 4, 7, 11, 18) and some boring/weird ones (6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 15) It could get tough if you spray it with the high grass, but you'll probably shoot 80. Amazing that it used to be an airfield, Fazio moved a lot of dirt.
