Guys with the goal weights - when do you look to get to these goals? A good rule of thumb for safe weight loss is 1-2 lbs a week.

You should also use this to set your goal weight.

http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/

6'5 230 pounds, bmi of 27.3(overweight).
Goal weight 210, bmi of 24.9(high end of normal weight).

I honestly don't think there is a chance I make it down to 210 but we'll see.

I need to hurry. No goals, just loose as much as I can.

20 lbs isnt that much really. You just need to focus on diet and get your ass off the couch watching re-runs of Purdue football games.

I know it's not much, but I was kind of surprised that it put me an extra 20 pounds. I never considered myself fat until the internet told me I was. I think anything under 220 will be a good start.

Would it help or hurt if I posted pictures of cheeseburgers, french fries, porterhouse steaks dripping with marinade, sizzling fried chicken strips, and mouthwatering buttery biscuits?

For anyone looking to lose weight: a blender is a great investment if you don't have one already. Smoothies, soups and such go a long way, I've found. You can buy some cheap protein too to thicken a fruit smoothie and you'll have a nice meal replacement drink and be satisfied (and this is coming from someone with a huge appetite.)

Weight is just a number. If you're serious about losing weight and keeping it off one of the worst things you can do is obsess about a certain number.

no it's age ain't nothing but a number.

weight class is a pretty important thing to consider when dieting. you don't want to go too far below your class, and you want to definitely calculate how much you're losing at what rate. it helps in determining your metabolism as well.

Post subject:  Re: CSFMB Weight Loss Challenge Week 1: Weigh In

I meant what I said junior. My sister is a personal trainer and the first thing she tells a new client is NOT to have a 'weight loss goal'. i.e. I want to lose 20 pounds in 2 months. Losing weight and keeping it off requires a lifestyle change not 'dieting' for 2 months. The result should be how you feel not how much you weigh.
