this is it...the big week. I am PM'ing everyone I haven't heard final word from (and some I have) and I will put up an updated list ASAP. Planning the event has been fun and it will certainly get off the ground. I want to figure out if you're coming to the after party, so please respond to the poll above. It was 7/6 last poll but I know there's more than that coming to the main event, so let us (mainly redneckmommy) know by your vote. You can re-vote if your plans change, so vote based on your current schedule. My special guests Drinky and Brenden are likely no-shows at this point, so now that can be told. I appreciate them trying. We still may have one radio luminary, but everyone is already aware of that.

I am not on the injury report for the basketabll itself, however, put me as "highly questionable" for the after party. Wish I could, but as the poll suggests, wife and kids will require me to be back home. Who else will they gripe at all day if I'm not home?

Notice I didn't say they "will want me" back at home. They will just require it.

Please put my injury status as Questionable. Thanks.

Anyone know where to get a pair of size 15 gym shoes?

I realized this past weekend that I am pretty sure I tossed my old basketball shoes out
last year. I will just have to lace up the gold old running shoes I guess.

Suckers, no idea about size 15 kicks. There are some outlet malls and Rogans shoes up
here by me that I could likely find them at but that does you no good.

Realized the same thing this weekend, I left my shoes at the apartment I moved out of in May of this year.

Trying to figure something out. May go with running shoes, as well.

If this appears like it may be more than a once in a lifetime gathering I may consider
investing in some real shoes. I looked over the weekend and they are even selling
some of the retro Jordan's but it looks like you have to buy the sneakers as a pair.
For example you would get a pair of black ones from 1988, but you also get a pair
of the Jordan XX's for a grand total of $310. No thanks.

Haha, yeah, I considered throwing down on an eBay lot, 7 pairs of size 15 Jordans, but $$$ is tight this week and I can't justify that kind of spending right now. My hope is that I'll man up and join the Xsport near me, as I won't feel so bad about dropping $40 on trainers for a one-off basketball game.

As it is, it's better than that time I left my golf clubs behind at an apartment I was moving out of. I haven't played a round of golf since.

Quite naturally, I am in favor of your plan.

Certainly, at this point in our discussions, I will mention that, unless you are buying some ugly drawers, you are not interested in buying 7 pairs of Barkleys - AS IN CHARLES!!

YOU TELL...presumptuously, you know what you should do.

That would really suck! I guess you need to make a note to walk the premises one last time before
you leave. When does your next lease come up? :D Maybe your apartment is big enough that it would be easy to miss some golf clubs.

Saturday November 22nd, 1-3 PM. redneckmommy is making after-event plans, post or PM her with any questions. 8029 W Forest Preserve Ave Chicago, IL 60634. Cost: $25/ea (could be less but bring that much) to cover gym costs. Don't let that stop you from coming if that's the only impediment though.

I think I remember this being discussed in one of the earlier threads, but I'm too lazy to look it up. Does the gym supply the basketballs, or is someone bringing them. I know only one is required to play, but I can't see sixteen of us warming up with only one ball. I think I may have a decent one to use to shoot around, but it needs some air. I used to have a needle and pump but I think they're lost somewhere in my garage. Can anyone bring these items?

By the way, I'm a no for the after-party. "Thanksgiving" with the in-laws.

I run another league and I can bring some Evolutions. I just want to make sure they don't get "lost". Anyone that has one, bring it. Best way to guarantee you'll have something to warm up with...

I may be able to scrounge up a pump and needle, I will bring them if I can find them.
I will be bringing a cooler with ice so if you bring some Gatorade you may be able to
find some room in there for it. I was assuming there would be water fountains.

True - that means 15 of you will just be standing and watching me make every one of my warm-up j's. I won't miss even onein warm-ups!

news you can use, fellas....

There will be basketballs there...but if you've got a good one, bring it...
there are water fountains...still think the cooler is a good idea....

Post subject:  Re: 11-17 Hoops @ Hiawatha Thread

I'll share the cooler as long as there is room, but since there will be cold beer in there as well, that makes less room for hinderances such as water and Gatorade.

Post subject:  Re: 11-17 Hoops @ Hiawatha Thread

it'll likely be cold enough outside if we run out of room in the cooler...

Unfortunately this happened many apartments ago and I only realized it two years after I'd moved out :(

The apartment I left them in was a steal, though - definitely big enough to forget/lose/leave behind a set of golf clubs and the rent was only $600/month. Granted, I lived above the notorious Don Quixote restaurant @ Lawrence + Clark, and the place was infested with cockroaches, but, man, was there a lot of space. There was an entire room I didn't even use.
