For anyone who may be interested or kindly inclined, my debut novel, a supernatural/paranormal thriller named Life Cycle, is soon to be released from my publisher, and anyone looking for an interesting read or looking to take a chance on a relatively unknown author before the general public can check out my website at http://www.alexjferguson.com/ or the publisher at http://www.unlimitedpublishing.com/ once they set up an author page.

Yes, this is about as shameless as plugs get--but this is the section, right? And feel free to ignore or insert your own sarcastic comments--I'd probably do the same. But if I can be serious for a minute, I did put my life into this project for the better part of a year and I'm exploring all options right now for initial promotion beyond the publisher's bare-bones initial approach.

More information about the book, and a secure PayPal setup, is available at http://www.alexjferguson.com/. Yes, it's not yet on Amazon or B&N/Borders, but that will all depend on what happens with advance sales and advance reviews. And if it makes a difference, 10% of my proceeds on advance sales will benefit St. Jude Children's Research Center. Thanks in advance for any support anyone may be able to provide.

Congratulations. But why apol-O-gye for the self promoting plug? That's in part what low-rent-internets-sites like this are for. Know-it-alls and unrecognized talents getting their 15 minutes...on a Shout Out thread!

Seriously, congratulations on finishing a novel AND getting it published in this day and age.

Well, congratulations are in order, pal. I would have never pegged you as a writer. Lots a luck to you and yours.

P.S. Can I get an autographed copy?

Yes sir, anyone taking a chance at buying direct from my website, http://alexjferguson.com/, before the book is available to the general public will receive free shipping and an autographed copy. And if you're worried about your anonymity here or sending personal information over a PayPal account, I assure you I don't even know or concern myself with who is who because of the early sales volume I'm already getting. And for the record, more of my own personal information is out there than I'd care for, but it seems that's the way the game's played.

Thanks to all for the kind words (and orders).

Darren--TP wondered about the page count...it's finally down to 290 lean, mean pages now after swelling to nearly 400 upon submission of the original manuscript. And Darkside (facetiously?) wanted a personalized message...well, I guess if someone paid for 50 copies made out to "I Eat Dick," then I guess I'd wear out my hand writing "I Eat Dick" over and over.

Also, for anyone interested, below is the blurb about the book from the back cover:

Life Cycle is a thrilling supernatural adventure with paranormal twists and turns that asks and answers the question "What if dreams do come true?"
Dan Shoe, a thirty-something Midwesterner, awakens late one night having dreamed the exact year and day of his death: May 5, 2027. His newfound ability or curse leads him on a quest to explain how and why he dreams and envisions future events and otherworldly images--events and images that one-by-one unfold correctly, leading up to the fateful day he once dreamed. Dan’s journey begins with dreams and visions of the future, leads into the tangled webs of unknown life, transcends into enlightenment, and ends with what may be the afterlife, culminating in an otherworldly blizzard of events on May 5, 2027.

Darkside's sister also collects signed copies of books, so would you autograph hers as well?

Thanks Darkside. I really appreciate that.

And for anyone who may be interested, Life Cycle will soon be on Amazon and possibly your local bookstore, depending on how things go here in the next few months with reviews, press coverage, and advance sales. But if you're interested in your own autographed advance copy, you can still come directly to the source here.
