I am sorry to hear about this Magic. I know it sucks. I have a good friend of mine in the same situation. He is doing some substitute teaching and driving a school bus for one of the school districts. He hates it, but it is helping feed his family while he looks for something better. I hope someone around here can help you out.

You could try the temp agencies like Manpower as well.

Do you have insurance? If you're on COBRA, you're paying WAY too much for it.

It sucks. I'm pretty much in the same situation. Although I do have a part-time job that helps out until I find a full-time gig.

Hang in there!

I have insurance through my wife. Not Cobra.

I'll check out Manpower. But if they're anything like the hundreds of other agencies that I've been going through, not much is going to change.

Go to the At&T site . Also look into the River boats around you .

Magic 1, you could work at Comcast out in Oak Brook. That's not a far drive from Berwyn. As a matter of fact, its right off of 22nd and York Rd.

I hope you find a job.

But you're still an AW.

Have you tried Robert Half Technology? I had good luck with Robert Half (although it wasn't the tech. division) several years ago.

just don't wear your bears jacket to any interviews. someone might comment on it, and you could over-react and not get the job.

You need to stop talking so much smack during interviews. A professional smack talker, like yourself, may put prospective employers off.

Seriously, good luck in your search. How many apps. have you submitted and interviews have you had?

Are you willing to move to the middle of nowhere Pennsylvania? I think there is about to be a regime change in the IT department at my school and they may be looking for new employees.

I know it's discouraging, but don't stop submitting. The next one may be the one.

Have you followed up with a phone call to any of the places you have submitted apps? Sometimes a follow up call does the trick.
You don't seem to mind being a pain in the ass, so badger the hell out of them. It might just pay off.

Have you checked out Craigslist?

My office may need a new CSR soon. The pay is not great, but its a full time gig that offers benefits. PLus, you'd get to work with me

I see your begging and choosing.

Sales can be very harsh, but a paycheck is a paycheck, especially in this economy.

Have you applied there? As Franklin alluded, beggars shouldn't be choosers. Christ man, get a job, earn some money.

Yeah, you could run a business out of your own home as a
gigolo...

Seriously, best of luck man. I have been on the fence of
layoffs for months now and thankfully been hanging in there.
If you are willing to move to Wisconsin I will look in this area
for you.

Honestly, I've been down that road before. I'd rather work at McDonalds.

Apply there then, and other fast food joints. If you're happy making $8 an hour, take advantage. With the cheap food they serve there, a lot of fast food chains are still doing ok.

This is all tying together quite nicely.

Let's see. At $8 an hour you'd have to work 26 6 hour shifts or more than 6 weeks at McDonald's to earn $1,000 after tax.

Eat 20 QP's in 60 minutes and Frank will GIVE you $1,000. I say go for the latter and spend the 6 weeks nailing down a new job.

That is incorrect. In this thread, you've already listed a number of jobs that you have been able to find.

I heard that Com Ed is hiring. I received an email about a job there. It requires about 10 weeks training, drug test and all the usual stuff, but it starts at $65K. There is overtime too. I thought about looking into it, but I am too much of a chicken shit and a clutz to work with high voltage stuff. PM me if you want all the info. I believe the deadline for applicants is March.
