I'll be in Sprungfeld that weekend, sorry.

Is pizza and beer really the best after marathon fare? (I'm being somewhat serious here)

It must be nice to be a fast runner :) I will be lucky to finish the race by 1pm. You will be showered, shaved and back in Elk Grove by then :)

We always do our post-marathon at Miller's Pub on Wabash. We were there the year the Bears blew that game in Cleveland which resulted in Mike Brown's rant about how bad that team was.

Burgers and beer is perfect post-marathon fare!

Make sure your alarm clock doesn't have separate knobs for the radio volume and the alarm volume.

It didn't work for Andy on the Office, his nips still bleed.

I used vaseline knowing it goes away. At some point focusing pain on a teet helps you forget your legs are toast, blisters on heel under 3rd layer of skin that now squishes with each step, you can no longer take a full stride because pulled a hammy keeping up with the hot chick, the fascia hurts so bad your toes are permantently curled...you get the idea a little teet blood is not always the worst thing.

Well done. Did you use a nice balm on those nipples? Or wax? I've heard both work.

just vaseline. i actually forgot to put the Glide(tm) on before the race, but almost every aid station had people holding up cardboard with gobs of vaseline on it.

really in these conditions, i didn't need it that much. but it always helps to lube.

it was my second. my first was 3:45:15. my goal was to qualify for boston. but 3:10:59 in that weather, for me, was not happening. i was on a good pace until mile 22, and then it was just...i mean, i'd have to average 6 and a half minute miles, and it was impossible to do at that point.

A new PR by 19 minutes is still huge. You are right about the last 4 miles. Picking up the pace after 3 hours isn't gonna happen no matter what the weather unless your world class or started too slow..
