Ever had to reformat a hard drive & then couldn't find the drivers you needed or even the device name?

Well after my HD crash last month I needed to find the drivers for my NIC card. Unfortunately I had purchased this computer used so there was no OEM information available, not even a name printed on the side of the card. While searching for a generic driver I ran across a freeware diagnostic utility called "Everest" by Lavalys

You can use it to find out what is in your computer, what drivers are installed, benchmark memory useage, and diagnose any problems you might be having.

As of March 2006 Lavalys has moved entirely into commercial software but you can still download the freeware version HERE

A) It's in compressed WinZip format not an executable file so it can (& should) be virus/trojan scanned before installing/running it.
B) I provided a link to the Lavalys homepage so you can check & see they are a legitimate company.
C) If you download & run ANYTHING based on someone's say-so from a message board the term "no computer genius" is a serious understatement :-)

Nos, you're right to always be concerned and overly paranoid at the least with your computer. This program however is pretty useful. I've used it for over half a year and it's safe and quite a deal for no charge. Highly reccomended.
