Well, I have video of myself replicating it; this is something I didn't have last time I brought it in or spoke with them over the phone. Video proof is sort of indisputable. And the cost would be free as soon as they admit to the issue, as it would be a warranty repair paid for by VWoA. It doesn't qualify for a lemon by law yet either, but eventually it could.

I would have liked to have been able to get it fixed two months ago, with you guys none the wiser, but VW wants to play a little hardball. The car is amazing, I love it...but this issue (which isn't a model wide problem, just a few people here and there) needs to be fixed.

People who has issues with MK5 GTI's a few years ago eventually took it to a news source, which publicized it and pressured VW to fix it, which they eventually did.

That might have to happen for this one.

This was just a low level tech / employee who told me that - and the video I had asked them to view at the time was a video of it happening to someone else in a Golf (a VW, but not even my same car) I then asked the guy in a hypothetical sense, 'what if I had the video?'

Now I actually have a video, and I will talk to a service manager. I will talk to VW of America directly. Someone will watch this video. At that point, they need to be a little more serious in their attempt to replicate it on my vehicle.

I'm getting more and more able to replicate it on demand. I now know most, if not all, of the conditions necessary for it to happen...MFD shows third gear...braking / coasting...then go to accelerate while MFD still shows 3rd. The reason I was able to take the video on that street is it is right near my apartment complex, and it has happened to me 3-4 times on that road alone...because its right after a turn I take in third gear normally...so when I accelerate out of the turn...some of the times it happens.

Ugie...I've made that turn at least once a day every single day I've lived at that apartment...I moved in the third week of May. Its the third week of October. 150 days...4 occurrences. Maybe 12-14 times total in 3,000 miles. I'm not quite to the point where I can purposely make it happen...so far...that video night was the first time I've wanted to make it happen and it did.

One of these times its going to happen when I really, really don't want it to...and that won't be good.

I would think that the first issue would be: Did he void his warranty but puttin' all those after-market fixins on that little deathcab that he was bragging about.

If they still refuse to help you, then sell the car and get a different vehicle. Cut your losses.
