Hey everyone,

Two stray dogs wandered into my yard today, a husky male that looks about 1 year old, and pit bull male that looks about 7 months. They seem to have been abandoned, as the pitbull had no collar and the husky had a collar, but looks like the tags were ripped off. We took them to the vet to scan for a microchip, but no luck. They are both incredibly friendly but look underfed. We'd keep them ourselves, but we already have three dogs.

If by some long shot anyone is interested in one or both, please let me know. I can definitely provide some pics for anyone is interested.

Thanks!

Thanks Frank. Just got word that a friend of a friend is interested in the husky too, but I've already had one lead fall through today, so I'll keep you posted if you are still interested.

And I know pit bulls have reputations, but this guy seems ridiculously friendly.

Honestly, take the pit bull to a shelter.

So far a few people have been interested, but nothing solid. Frank, if you do know anyone who'd want the husky please let me know. And yeah, I'll look into a shelter over the next day or so if no one can take them.

not sure where you are but if you can not find a home..call tlc animal shelter it is a no kill shelter and schedule an appointment ..they will find a good home for one/both and operate on small donations. just remember that some people answer adds on craigslist/newspaper full time and take free dogs..then they drive the dogs to research labs and sell them for 150$ to be used as test subjects.

Thanks for the tip! That's the same shelter that our vet recommended, so we'll be pursuing that if we get no takers soon. And yes, there's no way I'm giving either up to a complete stranger (I've been a creepy lurker here for years, so if one of the regulars showed some interest, oddly it doesn't feel like a "complete" stranger to me, so I'd be open to discussing further).

Right now I'm basically relying on the power of Facebook Nation to find them a home. South suburbs here, and we have a decent sized yard and a heated garage for them, so we can keep them for a little bit without too much trouble.

I would have no problem with Pitbull spending some time at the Bad Newz Kennels.

Bump...

So we kept the Pitbull (Brody) and things were going great, but last week one of my other dog's started with him, and now the can't stand each other. We've been trying to find another home for him, but we are pretty much, well actually totally out of options besides a shelter. So trying one last time on here, if you or anyone you know is looking for a dog, please let me know. He's definitely a handful, but he's awesome..probably best in a one dog home -- he does get along fine with two of my dogs and my parents' two dogs, but it's probably risky. He gets along with cats (though the cats at times might have a differing opinion).

I can provide much more information and a lot more pics if anyone is interested.

Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Good luck placing the dog. I already have 2 boxers and was lucky enough to find an apartment
where I can have them, although it isn't ideal. He is a good looking dog.

Hey everyone,

As a quick update, in April "It's a Pittie Rescue" was able to take Brody in, and they found a home a great home for him within a week. He's doing great in his new home.

Anyway, Infiniti of Naperville is holding a FB contest for charities, and the winner gets $500. If you have time it would be awesome if you could click the link below and vote for It's a Pittie. It's a close race between them and Pit Crew, so every vote will help. You'll have to "like" the page first, but you can always unlike it after voting.

Since they took Brody in, my wife and I have volunteered there often, and they are really a great bunch of people who are trying their best to help all these homeless dogs.

Okay so apparently I don't know how to update the thread title. I thought I did, but the it was only updated the title in my last post.

How do I change it so everyone can see "Update - Please vote!!" when viewing the thread title?
