Putting up the tree and putting decorations on it is the woman's job.

The day after Thanksgiving...before the 10am kickoff for the IHSA 1A football.

This is how I've been doing it since 2000 or so.

I put up the lights outside the house. I don't touch any of the decorations inside the house. If you have a woman living with you that's her job.

We decorate the house 1 or 2 weeks before Thanksgiving & the lights are turned on on Thanksgiving. The day after Thanksgiving we cut our tree down & put it up. Everything comes down 4 or 5 days after New Years.

Once the leaves are gone, you can put up outside decorations at anytime. Though, no lights should be turned on until after Thanksgiving. Inside decorations should not go up until after Thanksgiving.

Outside lights should be turned off after New Years. Outdoor decorations should be taken down by Jan 15. Inside decorations should be taken down in a similar time frame.
