Who are you people?
Quote:
Special Recreation Services (SRS) is a special recreation cooperative of the Calumet Memorial, Dolton and Riverdale Park Districts, as well as the Village of South Holland Recreational Services Department. SRS was organized to provide recreation and leisure programs for children and adults with disabilities in South Cook County.

All programs are designed to meet the individual needs of each consumer. SRS programs are offered both directly through the SRS office, and in conjunction with the regular programs of the above-mentioned park districts. SRS has an agreement with New Hope Center to assist in the planning and provision of all programs as part of the cooperative agreement.

But I like celebrities!

Bo Ellis, 1977 NCAA champion at Marquette, has been to a program or two of ours*. You will also have the opportunity to meet the CSFMB's only former 2 sport NCAA athlete if haven't already. Depending on where you live, if you come to the event, there a good chance you will actually drive past Joe Orr Road (not Rod).

*Bo Ellis will not be at the golf outing

Where the hell is University Park?

Never heard of it until we were there last year. Still not sure, it's damn far south.

How would you compare it to Danny Mac's Golf outing?

It costs less the half as much. Sure, helping people with autism is great, but why stop there? We help adults and children with autism, cerebral palsy, behavioral disabilities, learning disabilities, MR, and down syndrome to name a few. That's like 6x better than only helping participants with autism! You can also do both events, as ours is the Friday before Mac's on Monday. You can make it a 4 day charity weekend!

2nd annual? You better not have called last year's the first annual or you're an idiot.

Mac will proud that we called it the inaugural golf outing. Sadly our summer intern put out information labeling our Car Show the first annual one, we fired him.

What else do we get?

Your basic dinner and raffle. No wait, not basic. An Extravagant dinner and raffle!* My fat ass personally ate at BWW so much the manager didn't even blink when I asked her if she would be able to donate something to the outing and she sent me out with $80 in gift certificates. There's some other stuff, I'm not in charge of that.

*upon reflection more basic than extravagant.

I'd love to help but I can't make there. I mean University Park, really?

You can still help! There's a contact number for more info.

I'm sold!* Where's the stuff?

*You're probably not sold, but here's hoping.

represented some property in Univ Park. Lots for $7500! Had Ads in the Suntimes and every fucking Monday I would need to answer 50 calls from Southsiders thinking I am selling lots in the UIC "University" area for $7500. UGH.

Had 30 of them, one guy bought all 30 over a period of a year. 10 at a time, threw up houses for $75K and sold them for $119K. If Home depot sold a house kit, thats what this guy had.

spent too much time in "The U" for my liking.

There should be a nomenclature committee that prevents the use of "University Park," sort of like how not just any sparkling white wine can be champagne, or fake butter has to be called "buttery spread." You should have been selling in North Monee.

They actually do a very good job of managing the village. Its small enough. The impose fines for grass too high. Junk on lawns, broken down cars left in lots, etc.

They just dont let it look like shit. Its called "pride of ownership". They show that your community does not need to be rich to keep it in good shape. Driving around there, walking around always felt very comfortable. Chicago Heights, that was another story.

I do know they own those golf coursse and continue to try and annex more land south as close at they can to Peotine for the infamous 3rd airport deal. :D

Deer Creek is a pretty solid track. It attracts a lot of hackers and has a ton of outing so play is usually slow, but the course itself is usually in pretty good condition. I played there early last year and and greens were in excellent shape. Some tough holes too. 8 is a downhill par 3 over water that always plays a lot longer than it looks. 18 (par 4) and 6 (par 5) have very narrow landing areas due to water that comes into play.

I'll be out of town that weekend, but good luck KD.
