After your last post in the BUTT SOLID thread I would have to say that you're definitely "Out." If you know what I mean.

Originally I was going to respond and ask if you have experienced both scenarios and what's your favorite, but then I realized they were both the same thing.

My question still stands. Which one is your favorite? :alien:

What is this fest like?

I've been to quite a few beer fests in so cal but this was before the douchebag infiltration into the micro brew scene. It was mainly the brewers and their friends and the patrons that frequented their establishments that would go and sample some amazingly strong beer, get real hammered and have a great time. Then all the douches from the likes of beer advocate and such started showing up and taking notes and killing the entire vibe.

One of the fests I frequented was the Pizza Port (the guys run port brewing and lost abbey now i believe which they sell at binnys) Strong Ale Fest which was basically all the San Diego area brewers trying to outdo each other with barrel aged imperial stouts. It was 20 dollars for a 2 day pass and you got 10 tickets for 4 or 8 ounce pours and all the beers were above 8 percent. You could get extra tickets for a dollar a piece i think. These tickets were as generic as you can get so i looked up the name on them and found they were sold at party city. We immediately left and went to party city and bought a roll of like 1000 tickets. It worked and we sampled everything and anything probably 5 times each. They have 3 fests per year. This worked for a good 2 years. Now they print special tickets.

How much did they charge for this free weekend?

It's like this...

Image

55 Brewers, ~200 beers. They give you a 4oz plastic beer mug and typically fill it to 3oz.
They gave us two 20 punch tickets for each person (40 beers for math challenged). I had "seven" beers total, so that shows how diligent they were in marking off beers.

It was 3 hours long and $40. There are two sessions. 1-4 and 6-9.
