Won't they just let people in for free in hopes that they buy some merch or concessions?

Why would anyone pay to go see the White Sux these days? I would say it's a better option to see the Chicago Cubs since they are on the right track and have better talent to watch. There are much less black people at a Cubs game as well, and none of them are going to sass you if they're there. They know their place. At a Sux game you'll see a lot more Hispanic people, too. And those people will definitely steal from you, because they're little punks. If I see you at a Cubs game, I'll give you my autograph as I'm starring in a few movies coming up and I just had another great phone call to Danny Mac. I'll see you there, if you're white.

The Sox have upper deck tickets for $5 on Sundays and $7 most other. Thats gotta be among the cheapest face value price in MLB.

I'm surprised that teams that have trouble drawing people don't try something like this. Offer free tickets to weekday games, where no one is buying tickets, and get them to the stadium (parking revenue), get them to buy some concessions ($5 hot dogs & $8 Beers), and you would still come away with a decent chunk of revenue.

I wouldn't offer advance tickets with this option, just walk-ups on the day of the game, if it isn't sold out.

Also, for any fanbase, the majority of people drawn in by a free ticket would be good people. But, you'll have that asshole minority that'll get drunk in the parking lot, go in for free and act like fucksticks. They won't care if they get kicked out since the ticket was free.

That's $5 more than most people are willing to spend. They should just eat that, and bring in the other sources of revenue. You're not saying no to Little Johnny when he is crying for a hot dog and soda.

I've thought about that too. It's certainly not a great idea for them, but since there aren't any bars in the vicinity, I think you have to do it. Plus, it's a big difference from the Cubs, so that's a draw.

Lots of tickets available on their site, but no one really going cheap enough on the secondary market yet. May check out Craigslist or buy there...
