Stout at the Devil Call it an excuse to put on a costume, and/or to put on some make-up or wear a different mask, or to taste some excellent and somewhat rare stout beer. Saturday night, October 26, will feature some high quality and and few limited released stouts from breweries such as Revolution, Greenbush, Evil Twin, and Urban Legend. Scotchtober Oskar Blue's is your host to enjoy a free sausage sandwich (hmm,...sausage) with any Oskar Blue beverage. Old Chub will be the featured Scotch ale, and also Ten Fidy Sunday, October 27 from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. There won't be a Bears game on so its the perfect opportunity to get out the house and enjoy some great beer and good eats. Did I mention the free sausage? Now I know what you're thinking, "Aw dude, I can't make it this weekend." The good news, you can come in tonight or tomorrow night as theRIPH doesn't waste good beer and needs able bodied drinkers to consume what's already on tap. Check out what's on tap here: http://www.beermenus.com/places/7770-rock-island-public-house. But wait, it gets better, if the 16 taps at The Rock Island Public House aren't enough to give you a rise then just 200 feet away are another 25 tap lines with maybe just one beer overlapping (Oskar Blues), http://www.beermenus.com/places/1767-maple-tree-inn (closed Sunday) So come out and visit and have a beer, tell them "John" sent you. Its all about drinking better. Follow them on Facebook at The Rock Island Public House or onTwitter @theRIPH |

'Tis the Season for Fresh Hop Beers! There are still a few good stouts on tap but as those kegs are being drained beers made with fresh hops (as opposed to pellets) will be coming on line. Also, a few rather rare beers are also being tapped. Great Divide's Fresh Hop Ale delivers a very hoppy staste but with a light body and balanced character. Bell's Hopsolution is german-sytled double IPA that is hop intensive. Revolution Brewing Red SKull is an imperial red ale that features Cascade hops and a very balanced beer from start to finish. Also coming soon: Maine Brewing Mo a new American Pale Ale Check out the current full beer list here http://www.beermenus.com/places/7770-ro ... blic-house The Rock Island Public House. SURLY IS IN DA HOUSE!!! The legendary beer from the land of 10,000 lakes! Starting with Furious, and on for several more kegs. Be among the first in the Chicago area to drink some fresh our tap. There are still some other great beers flowing fresh--I'm drinking a Greenbush Demeter (fresh hopped) as I type this--and others on the short list to come! Not Shirley, bitch, SURLY!! Happy 1st Anniversary!! On 1.24.14 The Rock Island Public House aka: The RIPH (rip), da House[size=115] is celebrating one year of being doors open to the public! How does a place like this celebrate?? Movie/TV location for an upcoming production set a century ago. A star search for the next best t0pless Chicago sports team mascot. Free Beer Giveaways. A beer oriented fundraiser for a local charity. More better beer to be drunk. Yes!!! I mean not yet, no, illegal, coming soon, and definitely!!! Some of what will be on tap: Firestone Walker XVII Surly Bender Central Waters Bourbon Barrel Aged Barley Wine Plus!! Right now there are some really great beers that need to be cleared out to open the lines (I'm doing my part), else we drink them without you and one of us remains the beer snob you envy/hate. Hey, its will be the lull week before the Super Bowl which is the best time to get out your cabin or hut, drink really better, and then watch the biggest game of the year sponsored by the best brewery to ever exist* Check out the current full beer list here http://www.beermenus.com/places/7770-ro ... blic-house The Rock Island Public House. Its about drinking better! |

I was at Urban Legend over the weekend. Nice little place and had some really good beer. The "You Big Dummie" red was great and I hate red beer. The "Otis Campbell" DIPA was also very good. Worth a stop if you are in that area. Plus, plenty of ethnic jokes to offend all backgrounds (all in good fun, of course) from the staff. |
