I'll be your number one source for live, as-it-happens coverage of the 2014 Chicago Auto Show! I may even base my one tweet per calender year on it.

Woohoo!

edit: It is too bad that the Audi A1/S1 reveal is on 2/11...

"Live with IMU" has me imagining "Life with IMU" which for some odd reason makes me think of falafels.

me? mister greek gyros VIP status @ 2am when the line's to the door, as far as that metaphor goes.

anyways, aside from that aside, hey IMU did you like that audi commercial from the super bowl or whatever that some ppl think is against interracial coupling/breeding? that's my fatherland!

Love falafel.

Love gyros.

I cannot recall the commercial you're referencing. I'll have to look for it. As I said in another thread...the commercials this year were very...pedestrian. None of them really seemed like "holy shit Super Bowl commercial."

Is the station wagon section large this year?

falafel is a gross distortion of all that's holy and right about gyros. i even got a proper roll through central gyros a week or two ago which is nice if you're in the area / not going to greektown.

oh and here's the commercial i speak of.

Falafel has nothing to do with gyros, except being from a similar food culture?

edit: I had forgotten the Doberman ad was for Audi. I saw it.

Photos on my facebook.

The majority are not hatchbacks or wagons.

There was a huge wagon and hatchback presence though.

VVT is an engine thing.

You mean CVT?

And yeah. Several Nissans have it...Subaru...many other Asian manufacturers.

How many new cars now have "park assist"? You know,it's when suburban guys go in to the big city.

Almost all luxury cars, as well as many optioned out sedans. There were also a surprising amount of cars with electronic handbrakes...even in sports cars.

Backup cameras were even installed on extremely small city cars and econoboxes.

I think backup cams are now required or very soon will be thus their inclusion.

Fair amount of cars still do not have LCD screens in the dash as standard. Interesting to see how that goes if backup cams become required.

IMU,
What middle class type cars impressed you at the show? I know it's a Chrysler but the new 200 (Sebring) has a lot of bells & whistles. I had a Sebring. I was so excited when I bought that car. It was beautiful but it sure spent a lot of time at the dealer's getting repaired. I wonder if Chrysler's have improved since 2003.

Don't call the 200 a Sebring or sales will plummet. The Sebring was a terrible car.

The new 200 is based on the Dodge Dart (Alfa Romeo Giulietta platform).

It is a significant upgrade in terms of looks and interior. Its price will prevent it from seriously encroaching on Fusion / Optima / Camry sales, but it is definitely an improved vehicle.

Fiat still has plenty of work to do with Chrysler though.
