The wife and I have decided it's time to buy a house in the 'burbs (sorry GD). Our rehabbed (not vintage) condo is located between Southport and Ashland on Cornelia. Anyone familiar with the area can tell you the neighborhood is great for a single man or woman. We we're thinking of listing with an agent later this month, but I wanted to get a head start. If you, or someone you know is looking in the area please PM me for more info. Thanks BTW, We'll be looking in the NW Suburbs if anyone is trying to sell or knows of a good location. |

I don't know how to download pictures from my digital camera to the site. I could email them to you if you're interested. We're on the 2nd floor of a 3 story building (w/garden). We have 3 Bedrooms, 1 bath, washer/dryer in unit, fireplace, central air, hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops, wired in surrond sound and plasma wall connection, we also have an alarm system. I'm probably forgetting something. We're on the corner so we our windows face all directions and we get plenty of light. I installed the ELFA system in the closets so the space can be changed to meet any individuals needs. All the windows have Hunter Douglas window coverings (you'd be surprised that after 2.5 years some of our neighbors still don't.) The wife bought the place a week before we met and if you have any other questions I'd have to ask her. Sorry. Send me a PM if your interested. Also WR if you have competitive mortgage rates send me your info. |

Oz, if you have the pics on your PC, you can upload them to a site like tinypics.com. Then you just get the image URL and post like any other picture. |

Great location. Close to two El lines and a Metra stop. When you are describing it you need to talk about parking Oz, unless you don't have any. Did the wife put you on the deed? |

Quote: 2.5 years and already a wife? Don't mean to divert the topic, but now I'm really curious to hear how long do you wiseasses think a couple should date before a merger proposal accompanied with valuable consideration is delivered and how long before such merger is sacramentalized?
I dated the ex for 2 years before proposal, and everyone knows how that one turned out. In all honesty I don't think that there is a set number one can assign to this. Even given my track record, I'm still taking a pragmatic approach to if and when I encounter the future Mrs. Stinkfinger (that just sounds WRONG), because the way I look at it, the other situation was so fucked up that it hardly qualifies as any basis for any future decision making. |

I only waited five months to pop the question to Bulldog Sarah...and it would have been four but I wanted to ask for her Dad's blessing in person. When I tell most people this, they think I'm crazy, but all of my buddies weren't the least bit shocked at the time...it was so obvious we were right together that even THEY knew. This is something that is definitely different for everybody... |

We dubbed a girl that back in college, but that's another story.... |

I think it depends on your life situation (age, job, etc). I was with my wife for 2 years before I popped the question, but we were also living together at that point so it made sense to get it done with. |

I think age, maturity level, and what each party wants out of life have more to do with the success of the merger. I think it's a good idea to date for at least a 1.5 years. There are cases where you just know and less time is acceptable. I don't think it's a good idea for people to own things together unless they are married though. |

i agree Spaulding....although potential financial ugliness exists with marriage, owning as singles is too risky for me.....unless you have kids. |
