Post subject:  CSFMB Outing

Since the weekend between the Championship Games and the Super Bowl is always torture, and it will be made even more arduous due to The Beloved's involvement this year, why not liven it up a bit, and get a little CSFMB Meet-And-Greet going at some watering hole. Just a thought.

Doug, welcome to the great white north...
Mund eh,?
I'm just down the way from you in Lakemoor, right about where the General Lee sits on 120 and 12...

There's a few decent sports bars around here if you've not had a chance yet to check them out...

:D ....the general lee in old volo....love it!

i grew up in fox lake on the west side of pistakee lake....but left in 93 for the City....so, driving west on 60, i was amazed by the development....crazy.

yeah, mundelein....(the nice part)
moved into a new development near 45 and Butterfield.

i did happen to check out the pool hall in downtown fox lake a few weeks ago....pretty nice. especially for the hole that is fox lake.

one of my buddies lives in that new sub near camp duncan.....

but, yeah....send me some sports bar suggestions!

That pool hall is great.

There is a new Sports bar opening on Lilly Lake on 120 called the Iron Bull Saloon, opening on Saturday and I am going to check it out and will report back on it, but I saw them bringing in the LCD's and that is always nice. They have an outdoor bags range and will have both beach and water vollyball...

I've gone to keef's reef, it's actually CL or Island Lake but that place is rocking on weekends. 176 and the River.

You know how close you are to Grasslake, so there's always Blarney. Not so much for sports but for boobies not so bad. I'll take ya up ther on me pontoon in the summer, maybe make an outing of it. CSFMB's get free admin on the Sea Nymph!

By the way there is an awesome steakhouse on 60 called MB or Mongolian something or another. Went there two weekends ago and it's me new fav BBQ, after Russells...

What other haunts have I missed? I'm new to the Moor, only been there a year.

Darkside, its Mongolian BBQ, and its fantastic. Only two spots in the state that I'm aware of, the other being on the Riverwalk in Naperville. Like a limp dick, you can't beat it.

Not really. I haven't had more than 6 hours of sleep in the last week and she's nursing. Most of it is bad time management on my part. Everything else is great though.

I will never forget my first morning where the baby (and thus us) had slept thru the night. we woke up at like 6am. No crying or anything. Had to run into the nursery where she was sleepin. We woke her up, to make sure she's ok, and she was just so mad we woke her.... but after that first day she just slept right thru.
I guess we had gotten lucky she was only about 3 months at that point.

There used to be one on Clark just south of Wrigley where young Dr. Ken would prime himself for a night of debauchery in Wrigleyville. Not sure if it is still there (this was 1936).

I am going back there with Mrs. Darkside tomorrow night.

Its great, and its even cheaper at lunchtime. bd's Mongolian BBQ is the actual name. I wish I lived closer to one, I'd go there more often. I strongly recommend doing their recipe cards - it doesn't quite have the inventiveness of making it up on the fly, but the recipes are tried and true. There's a jambalaya one that I have done that is unbelievable.

I'll have to check that out, MUS.

Mrs. Darkside has expressed concern over the whole Mongolian thing. I assured her she can just get a steak or whatnot. She seems to think they'll sneak curry or something all over it.

Actually I was too when I first heard of it - I hate Asian food. However, it has nothing to do with India, Pakistan, China, or any other country on the continent. Tell her to be reassured, among the sauces there are ones generally associated with Italy, South America, and the southern US. It is delicious, and now after speaking about it I may have to go there for lunch.

Dr. Were you the kid in the background when Roy Hobbs met his long lost girlfriend for lemonade at that place after he broke out of his slump with 4 dingers. Even more important were you at the game???

I think someone should chart out the location of all board members and then geometrically determine the middle intersecting point.

I figure with Frank Costanza being somewhere in Montana, we'd all meet in the vicinity of Uncle Emmett's farm in western Iowa.

And, no Mitch, I wasn't the kid, I was the announcer screaming, "GOODBYE MR. SPAULDING!"

No don't live on the water, but I have a friend on Grasslake where I can port. I live pretty much at Darrell and 120, if you know where that is. About a mile anna anna anna anna half from the General Lee.
The chain is getting better. Much better. The wild lotus are coming back in the spring. Absolutely beautiful.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you, had a big issue in an OC48 yesterday and was running around to fix it...

i know exactly where that is...my P's were looking to build a house in one of those subs before they settled in Vernon Hills.

btw....what do the stickers cost now?

It's looking like no, Nas. I guess it's my fault for bringing it up on short notice.

I'd be all for something the weekend after the SB, which would give us more time to get a location pinned down. If we get enough people, or if someone has an "in" at a bar, it would be cool if we could arrange for a party room of some sort. And depending on the outcome of the game, it will either be in exaltation of the Beloved, or we will have to give them a proper irish wake.

Doug, you mean the watercraft fee? Depends on the size. your friend's 16 footer would be like $45 to renew, maybe 55 to begin? That's about the pontoon fee. Not bad.

This sounds like a good idea. It'd be nice for Mr. and Mrs. Darkside to meet the folks we're chatting with online...
Maybe Oak Brook or Elmhurst would be a central location? I know of a great sportsbar called the Foundry in Aurora. Commons and Mccoy? It's awesome.
