A play I wrote is finally in production and going to be performed as dinner theater. Runs about an hour and the cover is $5 I believe. See info below. Would love to see you there! I'll probably be at the first and last shows.

Can you give us anything as far as a synopsis or setting of the play? Probably going to be tough for me to make it to Chicago on a Monday evening
but I'll look at my calendar and see if it's possible.

I just went to a similar set up this weekend in Rogers Park. They did a pretty remarkable job of staging Jesus Christ Superstar in a storefront restaurant.

I'll come if I can. If it sucks, I'll boo and pretend not to know you. If it's good, I'll just boo.

sure; it's sort of a surrealist "twilight zone" comical play...the director specifically hired actors that could improvise. i watched the call backs auditions, and there were some real talented people so i'm looking forward to seeing them perform this material. she's adapting some of it to be more interactive because i wrote it as a straight up play and because of the venue, she's altering a few things to fit the setting.

it's about a couple that go to a restaurant, their relationship is stagnant, and they're stuck there while having to sort it all out. the staff become players in sort of deciding their fate but ultimately it's up to the two of them to sort of "face themselves" to save their relationship.

thanks for the support!

I'll vouch for it. I walked by it one night last week on Glenwood, during what must have been an intermission. (Then again, I suppose you must consider the source, Don.)

Trying to picture the Crucifixion with an intermission is entirely a Mel Brooks-type concept .... maybe Monty Python.

Even better, this place is so small ("HOW SMALL IS IT") the actors are the waiters. I didn't go for dinner so didn't recognize it until intermission when the lesser characters were serving dessert. There were so many missed opportunities for performance art type stuff given the content of the show.

Anyway, I was there with my son due to an illness of his original patron for the night. I wanted to watch the second Final Four game but I considered this more important. We got out of the play with about three minutes left. As we were walking back to the car I saw a bar with a big screen so we went in. The room was filled with well coiffed men and we were greeted with a lispy "hello boys". I thought it was funny. My son felt a little uncomfortable so we left.
