I just found out an hour or two ago that there's an underground electronic musician playing a show @ this place on weds night, and i've never been there.... i see the addy is on southport so i'll take a giant leap of faith that it's by wrigleyville and yuppie as hell.... so like, i'm sure that many of you lot have been there and seen/played shows there and know what it's about, so i'm trying to figure out some 4-1-1.

basically, i have a friend who's butthurt that com truise no longer talks to him on twitter (he of the tb-303/acid variety) and i almost gotta bribe the guy to go.... so how much of a yuppie ripoff is the place? if i go there with ~$200 is that enough to get 2+ people through the night? i might have to offer up the same "i've got you on drinks" policy to another friend form indiana so i'm not there all by myself, so i'm trying to figure out what i'm up against here and i know some of you know so hook a wannabe-brother up!

Yeah, $200 balloons will get you through the night easily. It's not a Wrigleyville type place. Maybe the Wrigleyville guy's older brother who now lives in St. Charles. The crowds generally skew older, although I'm sure the act will have some effect on that. Last time I played a gig there it was still called Gaspar's.

I second JORR's comments about the 200 bucks. You can drink pretty cheaply at Schuba's. I've always liked the place.

It's a nice, intimate venue in which to see a show.

Have a good time.

merci beaucoup, gentlemen.

the 200 is going to figure into drinks/weed/cabs/food/etc. i'm basically throwing it out there cuz some old friends who "looked out for me" at shows in hte past are all "OOOO I'M BROKE I CAN'T GO" so if i gotta step up and take out a couple hundred and take them out for a proper concert/night-out ,well then, i shall.

i have an odd feeling this night is going to end up @ hte continental at like 4am... especially if my friend ain't frontin that he and com truise were twitter buddies awhile back and we all go out drinking after the show.

has anyone here noticed that the continental now has two stories? that place makes fuckin bank.... i had some friends who's spin there from like ~3-5am every other saturday for awhile and it's a fuckin meatmarket and a half.

Harmony Grill is the dining portion of Schubas. I love that place, They make the food there! It's not refried, reheated crap. Always have funky seasonal dishes. And it's not too $$$$.

Very smokey crowd! I still think the wood there is smoke saturated from back in the day!

Solid place, even though the Owner is about as boring as a guy as I have ever met..Dude SMile...Just once! Say Hello to anyone!

For about 10+ years I lived 5 doors down on Southport and 5 doors down on Belmont. (Southport was my vacation house!)

Went there ALL THE TIME, Dinner, Lunch, Brunch, Drinks, New Duncan Imperials!!!!!

Really like the food at Harmony Grill as well. They had a decent bloody mary bar going one Sunday that we stopped before a Cubs game.
