I've been food poisoned twice by family thanksgiving dinners. I still enjoy the day but now enjoy it alone with my wife and no longer attend the huge family gathering. I will give my grandma a pass on the first food poisoning because she was probably too old to be making the dinner but the next year at my aunt and uncle's house does not get a pass.

I don't think you're getting the hint.

Everyone got sick.

None of you got the hint.

This. This a million times over.

To be fair, I don't like traditional Thanksgiving either. Turkey is blah, stuffing is meh, pumpkin pie can go to hell.

My favorite Thanksgivings involved the family going out for dinner, and me getting a steak.

There is no upside. The food is the "highlight" and most of the food sucks.

Turkey :puker:
Sweet Potatoes :puker:
Cranberries :puker:

Driving long distances to hang out with extended family that you can't stand for 362 days/year :puker: :puker:

Keep it.

I am in 100% disagreeance with you.

Thanksgiving is far and away my favorite holiday. Love the food and love the table full of deserts afterwards. Its always at my parent's house so that means me and my brother can bring our dogs which is great. Family is cool so like hanging out with them. Best part, at the end we divide up into two groups, one for Scategories and one for the anual family poker game that's been going on since before I was born.

Mom always packs me up with tons of leftovers. Yeah, can't think of a single holiday I like more than thanksgiving.

You can take the 4th of July and shove it straight up your american loving ass.

Who doesn't like Turkey, Dressing & Mashed Potatoes? How is it possible to not like Thanksgiving dinner?

I like Thanksgiving, but I'd probably like it more if I was off on Friday.

Turkey can be kinda meh, but generally my mom only makes her homemade stuffing from scratch about twice a year, 1 batch with pork sausge, 1 batch with raisins, so I love it.

I could eat nothing but stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy and have a happy meal.

Thanksgiving is fantastic. The entire week is a little lighter at work. Wednesday and Friday are basically dead.

I really enjoy sitting down to a nice family meal. Every other holiday is more of a buffet style with everyone grabbing seats throughout the house wherever they can. Thanksgiving is one table with good food, drink and funny conversations. Thanksgiving is also great because it is a beginning holiday. The next 1+ months are filled with lots of fun, drink and good football.

How does pierogies and rye bread work?

We have turkey club stuff at our Thanksgiving dinner. Toast, tomatoes, lettuce and about 8 pounds of bacon.

Good? Not sure what's you are asking. Some fresh polish rye, butter, some cheese, a little ham....and browned (in butter) pierogis.

You know what does suck about Thanksgiving? Cranberry sauce. I'd rather eat the driest, blandest turkey in the world than spread that red shit all over my food.

Who says you need to spread it all over your food? Cranberries are good for you...

I'd say the wine. I bought some top shelf sparkling vino to dull my pain.

Thanksgiving is fucking depressing for me. Just my parents over. No other family in the area. Cook a big huge fucking dinner, eat it in like 15 minutes. Clean it all up.

I would love to do an adult couples Thanksgiving..you know wife-swapping and all that. No, seriously, its the family that kills the whole thing. Friends would be a different ballgame.

There are bad cranberry sauces and there are good cranberry sauces.

I thought doug was putting pierogies on rye bread.

Cranberry sauce is the bee's knees & anyone who doesn't agree will be in great trouble if they have a urinary tract infection.

I'm from southern IL, so this "food" may not be prevalent here. It's just a crock pot full of green beans, bacon, and chopped white onion. My sister always makes it. Simple, but I love it.

I've had that before, back when we used to go to my Dads, parents when I was a yute. My Grandmother would make 4 Turkeys to feed everyone. There was easily 40 sides. Usually a dozen pies. It was stupid...Irish Catholics.

Completely agree. Cranberry sauce is disgusting.

Stuffing and mashed potatoes is the best. Turkey is alright, but it has to be the dark meat. White meat sucks.
