What about Kewpee in Racine? Ever been there T-Bone?

White Castle and Portillo's fries are my favorite...I think the nearest Steak and Shake is in Skokie.

Never heard of it Doug. I will have to look into it next time I head north. BTW there is a Steak and Shake
next to Gurnee Mills.

O-VER-RA-TED! Clap clap clap clap clap.

Is their food rated highly though? I always thought it was a near-concensus that they have great shakes and bad food.

i don't think their food is bad (aside from the fries, which do massively suck)
the burgers are decent
just way overpriced
the patties are so thin you basically need like a triple, then you're looking at 10$+ for a meal
for that price you could get a much better burger elsewhere.

The price and the wait at the drive thru are the other problems, but mainly I just dont like their food, and I havent really heard many people that do. Their fries are just awful.

Basically, I just dont think it's ever worth going there for anything other than a milkshake. It seemed to me that is a common sentiment. But if there's actually a large number of people defending the quality of their food, I'd have to agree with Dallas.

I'm convinced Steak & Shake fries are shoestring potatoes soaked in cold water.

Used to get a dipped cone (aka Brown Derby) after church as a youth. Better than the McD's stuff, but probably doesn't stack up against these ice cream parlors mentioned, but I still crave them now and again. Heath Bar Blizzard is also quite tasty.
