I got a bottle from a client as a thank you. I was going on vacation and my father in law was going to come by the house a couple of times during the week to pick up mail, etc. Now, I know that is a complete fiction because that guy loves to use my house as his get away spot from his wife and their babysitting duties. He comes over to raid the fridge and hang out reading the newspapers for a couple of hours. That week, he decided to include a couple of drink every day into his routine. Fucker put down a full UNOPENED bottle in a week and gives me the obligatory apology when I got home.

Old Grandad and Evan Williams are two great bang-for-your buck bourbons.

Good call, GD.
Basil Hayden's is the smoothest bourbon I have ever tasted.
Koval makes a good bourbon (rye too) on Ravenswood Street in Chicago.
They give tours, as well.

Basil Hayden is a nice bourbon - just a bit too sweet for me.

I do take a strong bourbon on the rocks with a splash of water so I'm not sipping it straight.

DB mentioned Blanton's - I have an unopened bottle waiting for a day with my buddy - he got it for my birthday a few years back.

Also Larceny was mentioned - had it once and it was good - a bit strong for my tastes.

I've also been into rye whiskey's lately - love that spice on them.
