CLOSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another place that they opened the doors and figured they would just make money like so money other businesses in Wrigleyville.

First, Panthro can keep his 'bettert than Lous' T shirts now. It wasnt bad deep dish, but not better than Lous.

Second, The name of the place was BEGGARS...but they didnt allow a tip jar for the employees!!! Hmmm

Third, when you put that wrap shit on the front of your store, people dont know if you are open or closed. You always looked close. I know it was an issue because a few weeks ago, they had a OPEN neon sign finally installed.

Decent place, but part of many, no empahsis on it and it goes away, increasing the vacancies within 100 feet of Clark and Roscoe to 8 food/drink, with 3 other businesses for sale. Anyone think there is a problem yet?

Why are they all closing? And isn't there going to be some new development stuff going up?

I went there once. No dinning area probably hurt that place. I think there was 4 tables.

Not gonna get the Cubs traffic if you can't sit down and eat.

new developments are going up, but that is at Bar louie, Goose Island, Improv....none of this area is redevelopment. It is just overpriced real estate. You pay a ton of money to be in wrigleyville and you only make money during the season, or on the weekends at night.

Not sure everyone plans for that.

Salt and pepper is the only place that is open for Breakfast-lunch-dinner and they arent packed during the off season.

Vines does OK for Lunch and dinner, but still under 50% filled on each night.

Outside of Navy Pier, Lou Malnati's is THE single most overrated thing about Chicago.

Beggar's is fine. Nothing outstanding, but you can do a hellava lot worse.

Totally wrong. Thin crust Lou's is the best.

Sucks to see the area struggling, which I suspect is a function of the Cubs taking their attendance for granted for the last four years, but get that south side pizza chain the fuck out of Wrigleyville.

42 locations, 38 with full dining room service and a multi million dollar online ordering service says you could not be more wrong.

IF you were close to being correct they wouldnt have a majority of these locations outside of Downtown Chicago.

Lou Malnatis is not a great product , they run an amazing business.

So they're your favorite pizza place not for their pizza but for their business model?

They are a very successful chain, I agree, but I don't think they could do it without superior pizza.

Lou's is still my favorite pizza. Great. Especially the Chicago Sausage and Spinach deep dish.

First, they arent a chain. The point being that the demand in Chicago is huge. So this isnt just people from outside of Chicago trying to say "You guys are known for Pizza" you have the people in the city consuming the product in vast quantities. The fact they arent a chain adds to a level of quality you dont find in other places and I admire the hard work they put in to achieve this.

beggars, connies, and a number of other places are take out /to go locations. Most of lous are full dininig facilities that seat 100+ and turn 500 a night, excluding the takeout. To provide a service at the level night after night, the quality of the product must be excellent.

Calling them a chain is a flaw in your whole statement

Tom Cruise was on Opera once saying he loves Lou's. Looks forward to having it every time he comes here.

I think it's the case with all tourist. That's what they know as the best Pizza in Chicago.

So, yeah, to have tourists thinking that means you run a great business.

"Deep Dish" in general is poor. Lous, UNos, Dues and semi genos are the only deep dish I would even consume.

If I want to pig out I would order a NANCYS once every 3 years,

You're right. I just meant that they're more than a one-location hole-in-the-wall. What would have been a better word to use?

Multiple locations

Chains and Franchises are a different businesses.

buying a FRANCHISE is a death march for so many and the quality then is almost always an issue.

I could not be more wrong, then 4 seconds later you agree with me, saying they do not have a great product.

If you could make sense when you post, it would be a good thing.

$1000 WAGER TO GOOD DOLPHIN

That's actually not an offer of a bet with Good Dolphin.

Lou Malnati's has the tastiest business model in Chicago as well.

I love Lous! My favorite!
Also, they advertise a hell of a lot less than most pizza joints.

Hey Frank, if Lou's is over-rated, what is the best pizza in town?

because you say so, then I guess it is?

I wouldnt take your wager because I dont think the Cubs will have a better record than the Sox....so i dont make the wager. Really not complicated until you make it so.
