I've heard good things. Has anyone been to one of these before?

The cater to everything that the USA stands for, quantity > quality.

You'll pay $40 and you'll stuff yourself on a never ending supply of average cuts of meat when you would've been much better off going to Mortons or Gibsons and spending $30-40 on a single steak.

You make them sound just like the Golden Corral.

Been to Fogo De Chao. Good food. Little expensive. I think bill was around $70 ish including tip and a glass of house wine.I would have gotten more out of my money if I didn't go alone. All you can eat places are a let down unless you got someone with you to show off your eating ability too. Only all you can eat that I felt I got my monies worth was Mongolian grill on Clark.

I got three bowels and a plate of sald.

Sabor De Brazil in Tinley was good until they tore that building down along with the whole block over there.

Went to Texas de Brazil downtown with the girl I was dating back in February...pretty sure between drinks and food the bill was about 120...I thought it was really good (better quality than shakes is making it out to be) but still not worth that amount of money.

Both Fogo De Chau & Texas De Brazil are good but a bit pricey, $45 or $50 per person. Most of the meat is pretty good, but way too salty. I never understand why some restaurants ruin food by salting the shit out of it.
Brazilian steakhouses are a unique & fun experience. Years ago when I was on the Atkins diet I loved these places!

I didn't have a single cut of meat my entire time there that I thought was too salty...yes, some of the stuff was crusted with rock salt and what not but I didn't think it took away from the cut of meat.

Exactly; they are overpriced, better decorated versions of Golden Corral or OCB.

Not sure why if you are in Chicago you would ever eat at one of these places? Do you really need more than 16 Oz of steak?

Most I ever tried to knockdown was a double porterhouse at Mortons (48 Oz) and I put up the white flag at about 24 oZ!

Go to cap Grill, Burkes, Gibsons, etc for $70 and have a real meal and stop being a tourist!

Variety is the spice of life.

And yes, there are plenty of times where I need more than 16 oz of steak.

24 oz (post cooking) ribeye is about right size for me. So to get there you may want to start with a 32 oz cut. I don't order starchy sides or desert, so putting down a 24 oz of protein hasn't been a problem. My fat ass is a witness.

The problem is that there aren't too many places offering this particular steak configuration.

Most of them you can get some great cuts of chicken (wrapped in bacon), pork and other meats as well. I do it for the variety. Even having a few different cuts of steak makes it worthwhile for me.

I can't comment on this. I have perfected the cooking of beef, no matter the cut, to a degree that precludes me from eating it prepared by anyone other than myself, sorry.

I always wondered what type of demographic does Alexander's steakhouse target.

Been to the one in Schaumburg. Awesome. Highly recommend. Definitely blows away the local steakhouses. Why would you just want one piece of meat when you can have a variety of awesome cuts. This will be the place where my wife and I celebrate our wedding aniversaries from now on.
