Our restaurant is at Central and Irving. I we are like 60-70% local on the beers. I actually have a soft rule to try to keep the money west of Pulaski. So I always have a few offerings from Lake Effect, Aleman, Old Irving Brewing (they have a good ddhipa called Beezer you would like) and I am working with Eris Cider House to carry them when they start distribution. I like Sketchbook because I've met the guys, I live right down the street from the taproom, and their stuff is easy to pair with our food. I like Moody Tongue for the same reason.

What did you have at Foam? I like their tap room--when it's not packed--but I'm not a huge fan of their beer. Galaxie 500 is terrific, Experimental Jet Set very good, but the rest of the stuff I've had by them hasn't been outstanding. Personally, I prefer a lot of the IPAs from (the far less hyped and much more widely available) Burlington Beer Company, which makes a few excellent offerings among their massive and generally very good lineup.

Lawson's is another brewery that I would classify as a little overrated. Sip of Sunshine is a very good beer but it's nothing special. The last batch of Double Sunshine I had wasn't that impressive, and The Space Between and Super Session #7 are just plain bad. Super Session #2, on the other hand, is a really nice, dank IPA.

Didn't Farmhouse have any Hill Farmstead on tap when you ate there? That would've been the way to go. On another note, I don't know why Farmhouse doesn't increase their number of tap lines. There's really no great beer bar in Burlington, which is strange since it is such a great beer town, and Farmhouse is clearly missing out on an opportunity here. Incidentally, my favorite drinking spot in Burlington is the Archives, a barcade featuring a consistently intriguing tap/can list. Great place. Manhattan Pizza also has a very good tap list, but it's a bit of a dump, and not in an endearing way. The best beer bar (by far) in the area is definitely Blackback Pub, about 30-40 minutes away in Waterbury. Don't miss it if you get the chance to visit again. Amazing tap list, good food, very friendly staff.

Spent some time at the Trillium brewery in Boston yesterday. Had a nice time, it’s quite an operation over there. It’s been hot here this week so I had a frozen beer first and then a couple IPAs. I’ve been logging in all the stuff I’ve been trying this week and will have to report back when I get home. I don’t know my beers like a lot of you guys do but I’ve found some good ones I really like. Trying to order something different every time. Also put a 6 pack of pick and choose together at the local store for the apartment. I did double up on the Fiddlehead IIPA and it was very good. Anyway I highly recommend the Trillium experience, they also have a beer garden down near the harbor.

But thank you for the advice. I want to do a proper Vermont trip rather than a rushed side trip coming home from Montreal. I'll try to convince the wife to do a combo trip of skiing Stowe or Okemo and delicious VT beer.

Farmhouse didn't have any Hill Farmstead. We went on Memorial Day and the Vermont Marathon was earlier in the weekend. So they must've been cleaned out.

My brother lives in AZ and drove to Chicago to visit the family. Great guy stopped by ABQ and hooked your boy up with La Cumbre beers.

Cracked open a Malpais Stout tonight and have some Elevated and Project Dank with my name on them chilling in the fridge for later in the week/month.

Took the kids to Warren Falls, Vermont, this weekend for some swimming and cliff jumping in the pristine waters of the Mad River Valley. My family loves this place:



Also had some amazing beer. In particular, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed several offerings by Foam, which I've found disappointing in the past. The Shining (NEDIPA), Like Clockwork (IPA), and Canvas (APA) were all juicy, creamy and really tasty.

None of them, though, compared to Hill Farmstead's Society and Solitude #6, a remarkably complex DIPA that demonstrated HF's superiority to so many other "elite" or trendy craft breweries across the U.S. Simultaneously juicy, earthy, grassy and piney, this beer is simply fantastic.

Incidentally, I highly recommend the Stowe/Waterbury area as a summer vacation destination. Although Stowe is best known for its downhill skiing trails, it is a great location for warm weather activities like camping, hiking, swimming, and fishing. The lush, mountainous landscape is beautiful, and phenomenal beer is ubiquitous.

Anyone in the greater Lake County area...Saturday November 9th, the 5th annual Legions of Craft Beer festival...this year at Six Flags. If you're a season pass holder, tickets are $25 through this weekend...otherwise, they're $55 which includes free parking, admission to the park, and admission to the festival. I've gone 2 of the last 3 years when they held it at the mall and it's always been a good time.

Picked up a sizer of Three Floyd’s Necron 99 for the weekend. Last night I tried a couple Stone Brewing Ghost Hammer IPA. It was just ok. Smooth enough but not very memorable. Hoping the Necron is more interesting

Tighthead had their Hoptoberfest on Saturday night.

I'm convinced there's a Possession additive in their "Pitcher of Nectar" brew. Tasted great.....had a great time at the event, but holy shit did I get weird drunk that night....and I didn't drink as many to deserved such a level of intoxication.

My wife is a saint....I'm drawing a lot of blanks from Saturday night.
