I dropped a grand for 36 hours in Vegas. I got to spend time with some relatives that I am rarely able to see. I went to my niece's wedding and got to meet Otis Day. I consider it money well spent. Something that my relatives and I got a lot of joy from.

Now, if I drop the same money in Steve Wynn's pocket, then i get nothing tangible other than the thought that I just wasted a grand that was better spent somewhere else.

Cool story.

That still doesn't change the fact that gambling is simply another entertainment expense there.

friend of mine stays at 4 Queens. Gambles $3-5K and they pay for his flight and stay

We are at the Wynn and my guy is rolling, he is up about $8G, standing on a stool, because he is about 4 ft tall (OK 5)

I guess his parents stayed there for years and they comp everything for him including his flight.

When I see people eating there in new Orleans, it just exemplifies stupidity. I am actually surprised they even let one open in the quarter, as they take pride on not letting the BK's, MCD's Popeyes etc in that area and fuck it up.

There are still good buffets there. They just cost $50-$60 minimum. Usually more. Wynn has a good one and I like the one at Cosmopolitan also.

I can't believe when we started going to Vegas ("--" years ago ) my wife and I used to make a special trip to Excalibur every single time because we thought they had a decent buffet for the price.

Just do other stuff. Not even sure how I used to gamble at a table for 10 hours a day, but i did.

Now I go Boating, ATV, Shooting, Golf, Concerts, much better dinners (no more buffets)

Bet on games still plenty, then play when we get back. Shower get ready for dinner, come down, play 30 minutes, eat, go and play for couple hours, then maybe go out, or come back and play.

The only buffets I eat in Vegas are breakfast. If I am downtown, I go to Main Street Station. They have the best buffet downtown. They also have a brewpub, with above average food. I had a Prime Rib burrito the last time there. They also had an imperial oatmeal stout that was delicious.

Most Margaritavilles = big, noisy and bad (especially the one in Vegas) but I don't mind an afternoon snack and margarita on the 2nd floor balcony at the NOLA one. It's a nice break from beer and the people watching is pretty good.
