I've always wondered what a traditional Christmas dinner consisted of and judging by the responses the answer apparently is "anything you damn please".

Is there traditional fare?

Also what time do you usually eat Christmas dinner? Is it like every other holiday where Goys eat earlier than a 90 year old having supper at Bill Knapps? Or does it happen during actual dinner hour?




As for what I will be having.....the usual, Chinese or preferably Thai if we can find one open.

The most common would probably be ham or turkey. I think Lasagna is also pretty common, but the "traditional" meal usually varies widely from family to family.

Growing up we would go to the 5pm kids mass on Christmas Eve. Afterwards my Mom would pick up Brown's Chicken for dinner. Christmas Day was always a turkey dinner, pretty much the same fare as Thanksgiving.

I think fish is more of a Dutch thing at Christmas.

We never did, but I'm also the only one in my family who likes seafood. My Dad will eat fried perch/cod, but thats about it.

Shakes it usually depends on when we get in town, but this year we land at 12:30. I see a 5:00 meal consisting of said Lasagna, with some smoked wings, vegetables, homemade bread and plenty of desserts. Followed by the package openings, the best part.

When I was a young kid, my grandmother made this massive Christmas Eve dinner with like 13 kinds of fish which was mostly herring. I ate nothing but bread and the next year ham, potatoes, and corn were all there. Take that religion!

A badly prepared ham on Xmas eve years ago kinda soured me on it in general. The Yumbo looks fucking terrible.


My grandma used to do ham and turkey. When the grandparents passed away my Uncle converted it to steaks on the grill which is nice.

we have Swedish food on xmas eve. and its a good thing it's only 1 time a year because nearly all of it is fucking nasty

I'm half Swedish, and I don't think I've ever had any Swedish food. Maybe I had a Swedish meatball at Ikea.
