I don't know if most people would consider it better, but there are a few dishes at La Scarola that I really like, so I keep returning. The couple of times I ate at Sabatino's nothing really struck me as memorable, but maybe I ordered wrong.

At La Scarola, I always get the pasta e fagiole (which ranks among the best in the city), the italian sausage and escarole appetizer (sauteed in a lot of olive oil and garlic, it's fantastic--a permanent "special"), and the pasta vesuvio (great reworking of a classic recipe). Since I never order anything other than these dishes at La Scarola, I don't really know if the restaurant is any good on average. But those three dishes are always winners. My wife likes their risotto dishes, but I don't entirely trust her palate.

Actually, the Senegalese place is outstanding. The name will come to me in a bit. Then on Sunday, I'll probably head up to Sweet Nick's Caribbean for some Haitian food (griot).
