pizza_Place: Vito & Nick's
83rd St & Columbus Ave (Southwest Highway) on the southeast corner, right near the Ashburn Metra station.

4 booths and about 6 seats at the counter. Total hole in the wall place, if you blink you would miss it. Waitress Linda & her husband cook Jim have been running the place for over 50 years. My Dad used to take me there as a kid, and I took my wife here last week figuring she would like the different experience. Except for a few Blackhawks pennants hanging up, the place hasn't changed a bit. Its like going to neighborhood a diner in the 1970s. Everything is freshly made from scratch, and you get about a pound of fresh cut shoestring fries for your $2. This sort of greasy spoon is totally a dying breed not just in Chicago but nationwide. Now you have Greek families basically running cookie-cutter corner restuarants, but this is something different. Its old school and refreshing. The food is excellent and the prices are a bit of a throw back as well. If you are in the area, it is definitely worth your time to swing by.

Since the old couple who runs it is probably in their 70s, they have some funky hours; Closed on Mon, Fri, & Sun. CASH only, no ATM on site. I actually think they might take checks  Oh yeah...Green River from the fountain!

Don't Get Nervous!
