How much do you tip (or do you not tip) at places where you order at the counter, but then someone brings the food and drinks out to your table? Sometimes they come back to see how you are doing, some places they don't. Most of these places they clean up your table after you are done.

If I'm by myself for lunch at a place like this I will leave a dollar or two on the table after I eat. If I'm with the wife and its dinner I'll throw a $5 on the table. Probably comes out to around 15%. Might give a little extra to a place like Mother Cluckers where they will come over and check on you multiple times and the people who work there are super nice.

Never tip on carry out. That's just stupid.

I do this at Peking Express in Elk Grove Village. They treat me well there. MAYBE once or twice elsewhere. Again, it has to be a place where they bring your food to you, maybe pick up your plates and such when you're done eating, give you 'extras' and are a small business.

Dollar or two.

I tip standard, counter makes no difference. What about restaurants where really all the waitress does is take your order and maybe bring your drinks but kitchen staff brings the food out?

At a couple taco joints out near me, you order at the counter. They bring the food out to you and then clean the table after you leave. A buck per person at the table seems like a fair tip for that scenario.

To be honest, I hate the tipping concept altogether. I hate that business use that to calculate wages and that it's on me and my decision to make sure they get fully compensated. I would rather they do away with tipping, pay the workers more, no tip and just bake it in to your charge.

Us good tippers also are footing the bill for the cheap fucks that don't tip or leave a shitty tip.

I would agree with this. I usually tip over 20%.

I would tip if someone is making minimum wage, or delivering me food. I've tipped picking up food from an order called in, and I have been burned too many times. Fuck tipping for that.
