Very good authentic cheesesteaks despite the hipster weirdos who work there.

Yes, I have a friend from Cherry Hill, NJ who says it's the closest thing she's had in Chicago. Real Amoroso roll.

I guess the couple who own it are from Philly originally.

It’s fine. It’s overpriced if you don’t do take out.

Sometimes the food comes out lukewarm. Good place with a lot of families given it’s location. (Another reason to take out)

Have you tried this place Hatchetman? It's a quite tasty beef in it's own right. Dining in does make it spendy in comparison. Mrs. hanna always gets the fried calamari too. We've never had a cold food issue but I can see where it could happen. Had a Perrin 98 on tap which was quite tasty.

I wonder if they have them flown in fresh or frozen (and then bake them on the premises).

Monti’s and Mojo’s (in Downers Grove) are the best for cheesesteaks in this area.

They were being flown in as of a few years ago. Not sure if that's still the case.

I had a cheesesteak at one of the famous Philly places once. It was OK. I remember a whole lot of grease. No need to do it again.

It's not an either or. You can like both Italian beef and cheesesteaks.

The owners taught our daughter in a hospitality class years back.

How did you find that place from your neck of the woods?

Combo, no doubt.

But not a straight beef imo.

I'm in the city a lot for work. A guy I work with had been talking about this place for months so we went. He lives right down from it.

When you are in Springfield, IL check out Head West subs. Similar hipster weirdos and good subs.

I do hope the daughter did not pursue hospitality as a full time line of work. I can't imagine the pay and hours have shifted over the years to make that a fulfilling endeavor. Masochist types loved it. Never met many normal folk in the industry.

Grab a cheesesteak to go and drive around the corner to Alter Brewing for a complete experience.

Serving others is the most fulfilling endeavor anyone can find.

This is truly a strange statement. You seem to imply that waiting tables is equivalent to serving humanity in a larger, perhaps spiritual, sense.

What is strange about being of service to others? Or better yet, what is truly strange??

I've always thought it would be cool to be in management of some international hotel group and be able to work for a few years in exotic places. One of my friend's brothers works in Hong Kong managing a hotel.

My wife's gay has a former lover who is a hotel exec based over there too. This guy is an Englishman. I had a fascinating conversation with him regarding how he gets paid. I don't remember all the details, but he could make considerably more by being paid in RMB than in USD. The problem is that he needed to have a Chinese citizen that he could trust to run the money through.
