I put a big 6.5lb chicken in my weber. charcoal indirect method. potatoes and onions underneath on the coal grate. I have never done this. will either be raw or incinerated. 30 minutes and no lookie.

Flipped after one hour. Checked again at 1:45. Thermometer read 156 so I left it in while I made the salad. Turned out great. Potatoes were really cooking in a lot of juice though. They load up the birds with chlorinated water at the slaughterhouse. $$$

Where'd you get a 6.5 lb chicken?

I usually grill my chickens beer can style. Exposes it to heat more effectively.

Takes about 90 minutes for a 5.0-5.5 lb bird.
