After reading a number of positive on-line reviews we decided to check out The Beach House in Ottawa last night. They specialize in seafood with fresh fish flown in daily. It was fantastic. The quality and presentation was equivalent to some of the better known Chicago area restaurants for 30% less. The atmosphere was casual but nice. Check it out if you're in the area.

There used to be (and may still be) an awesome paintball place in Ottawa called Action Games.

How does it compare to The Palace Hotel and Ballroom on Lake Wazzapamani? Man, their orange whips are SPECTACULAR!

Not even a PM to invite me over that I would of most likely politely declined..... The shame Zippy, the shame.

Pretty good looking menu. It’s not next door but everything is an hour away from here basically so it’s within range. Told my wife we might have to make a trek over towards end of month.

Didnt know we had any Ottawa posters here.

I'm surprised he would even have internet access there.

About 20 years ago I remember a diner right off the highway exit there. Think it mighta been Greek-owned. Mighta been next to a gas station.

What was the name o' that place, and is it still there?

I went to the Beach House tonight. I drank too much, I ate too much. It was a nice place. Small. See that is a sister restaurant to one in Channahon. They flip the menu a lot apparently and are about to change again. I’d go back and eat and drink too much again.

The greekish dinner next to the highway is probably Sunfield. Never been there but it looks like it’s been there since the dawn of time.

I’m watching the history channel doc on Lincoln and there’s an extended scene on the Ottawa Lincoln-Douglas debate. Any idea if that was held near the beach house?

Honestly I think I saw a statue of the debate a few years back while looking for parking at a different restaurant in Ottawa. So…. Maybe? Quick google search shows it was a couple of blocks away.

It’s plausible. Also riding in car and make tons of typos always.

A couple of blocks to the north from The Beach House is the debate site.

No. They’ve only been open since September. Pretty small place. I’m not sure if we will go often or anything (my wife has a fairly limiting diet she’s been out on so it’s hard to eat out) but nice people.

There’s a place in Algonquin called Port Edward that has a private table inside a sail boat floating in the middle of the restaurant which is kind of cool.
