i"m going to be up there for the DePaul-Viator Sectional game tomorrow. Where is a good casual spot to eat afterward?

I've heard good things about a place called This Ends.

The BNB that’s connected to it, This Ends Inn, also gets rave reviews. Just get used to the owner repeating “Obama GIF” a lot.

not sure how close it is to Waukegan area, but Big Ed's BBQ is top notch. Make sure it's open first, I know they just relocated to a much bigger space for the 4th time.

I'm here, JORR
The answer depends on what you want to eat and / or the environment you want...formal? casual? Steak? Bar food?

Shakes is 100% correct that Big Ed's BBQ is excellent. They just moved in to a new spot very close to 94 / 41 where Gurnee borders Waukegan.

If you want dive bar food, the answer is The Fogcutter. This is located in a strange spot that is considered a Lake Villa address, but it's more on the Lindenhurst / Gurnee border.

Steakhouse - Backyard Steak Pit is very close to Fogcutter, but I believe is a Gurnee address. It's kind of a hidden jem in terms of steakhouses.

In downtown Antioch
- Mexican Paradise: good if you want Mexican. Atmosphere is nothing special, but tacos and burritos are as good as anywhere in Lake County.

- Station 51: It's good, but for what it does it's a little overpriced. I still have no issue eating there on occasion. It's bar food but slightly unique in terms of the menu.

- Rivalry Ale House is decent, but nothing to get excited about. Mostly German and / or Irish bar food.

- 15 Lakes: Steakhouse. Expensive, but good. i much prefer Backyard Steak Pit

- The Lodge: Bar food. Decent, but not even close to Fogcutter

- Oliveri North: Italian Food.....never eaten there.

There are a whole list of places on the Chain O' Lakes that are considered Antioch, but it's not boating season and none of them have exceptional food.

15-20 minutes.....if you're eating before the game, you'll drive right by the Fogcutter if you exit on Rt 132.

I stopped in a late-night bar/pizza place the night of the BigW72 Screwjob. When I went to see his band and couldn't get in.
Forgot the name of the place but it was good pizza.

Anastasia's is also good shit somewhere up there.

Our family used to order ribs from Fogcutter when I was in high school. Very good.

I'm still trying to figure out how this game ended up in Antioch, but I'm glad you made it.

I miss that place dearly. Even my kids are conditioned to making regular visits there.

Not so much a place to eat, but there's a great bakery in their downtown called Lovin Oven Cakery. Lots of good stuff.

Lovin' Oven started in Round Lake Beach 20 some years ago and they have BOOMED. When I worked in the Glenview / Northfield area, everyone raved about Deerfield Bakery. I think Lovin' Oven is far superior.

That Antioch location of Lovin' Oven was once upon a time a BEN FRANKLIN store. Growing up, the Ben Franklin was pretty much where you want for anything.

I apologize enough in my life for factual things.....I'm not about to start apologizing for fictional events

My mom would go to Deerfield bakery back in the early 90s and it was great. Was talking to my wife about it recently but haven’t been in 30 years. Nice to know a great alternative that is close.

Deerfield bakery is good, but for some unexplained reason they can't make a decent chocolate chip cookie if their lives depended on it. I think they told me recently they changed the recipe but I haven't tried it since. I'll give it another go at some point just so I can rip them in person if it's still bad.

Now the chocolate/babka type coffee cake is amazing and sells out every morning.
