I'm looking for some suggestions for sit down style ice cream parlours for a special occasion tomorrow. I usually go to Margie's. I have been to Homer's.

There is a place in that courtyard/park like square across the street from the Brauhaus on Lincoln. Excellent product. A bit too sterile if you are a Margie's guy. Italian sounding name... if you are standing with your back to Brauhaus it will be on your left hand side towards the opposite end of the square from the fountain.

All right, George, all right. I'm sorry. I'm very, very sorry. I'm so sorry that I didn't want your rather bulbous head struggling to find its way through the normal-size neck hole of my finely knit sweater.

I'm sure you've been to that bizarre place on Devon in Edgebrook that was a 31 Flavors when we were growing up. It's always decorated in a strange way and seems to be run by kids.

Also, Village Creamery on Oakton just east of Cicero is run by Indians and hey have some very odd and interesting flavors.

I wouldn't call either of those places "ice cream parlours" in the sense that Margie's is though.

That place on Devon serves Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream from Madison. It's better than Margie's--which I don't think is that great--but like you said it's not really a traditional ice cream "parlor."

The Village Creamery place really does have some freaky flavors--like avocado and corn. I generally like their ice cream quite a bit. I'm pretty sure it's a Filipino operation.

That's Paciugo. Pretty good gelato, but it's expensive. And as you said, it is sterile--almost reminds me of a doctor's office.

margies is dirty, or at least every time I go in it just seems to have a funk about it. What about Petersen's in Oak park? Or Ghiradelli near water tower?
