As if we didn't need another top-tier steak joint, Del Frisco's (originally based in Dallas) recently opened on Oak Street in the old Esquire theater. Had a chance to check it out this week, and I'd say it was very good but not better than the old standbys (Joe's) or some of the newcomers (Mastro's). One pet peeve is that they charged me $4 each for three tiny bottles of Coke. You'd think that when you are dropping $200+ on dinner for two, they could give you a free refill on soda. (Sullivan's is owned by the same company, positioned below Del Frisco's, and provides refills.)

Anyway, here is the rundown:

Service: 10/10
Ambience: 8/10 (not as lively as Joe's)
Bread: 6/10 (warm, fresh loaf but rather bland)
Crab cake: 10/10 (first one I've had that equaled Hugo's)
Salad: 6/10 (blue cheese wedge is actually better at Sullivan's)
Entree: 9/10 (filet trio with different sauces, cooked and seasoned perfectly)
Sides: 9/10 (wild mushroom risotto excellent)
Dessert: 6/10 (bread pudding not nearly as good as Wishbone)
Overall: 7/10
