This place is fucking awesome.

It's laid out like a diner- booths on the window facing the street opposite a counter behind which grillmen work. But this is no ordinary counter and these are no ordinary grillmen.

The fried chicken is prepared Asian style with honey and chili. I also had an order of fries topped with an egg sunnyside up that came with both a mornay and aioli. But the burger is the thing here. If you eat it, I will almost guarantee you will agree that it is one of the best in Chicago- if not the very best.

They've got a reel-to-reel tape machine playing behind the hostess stand. At one point I heard, in order, Pharoahe Monch (Simon Says: IMU, go fuck yourself), Nas, and Mos Def with Slick Rick.

They have a gigantic beer list and a cocktail program featuring a handful of things like Bloody Marys and Old Fashioneds. (Shoutout to Manny Sofios- MY GUY!) One issue I had with the place was when I ordered a Johnnie Black and soda. First the girl came back and apologized that they had no Johnnie Walker and tried to offer me Heaven Hill or another Bourbon instead. I asked her what kind of Scotch they had and she had to check a list. It turned out all they had was The Macallan and Laphroaig. It's a fucking sin to pour soda water on that stuff. But I really didn't want to sip a single malt with my fried chicken. So I risked appearing gauche and ordered The Macallan and soda. The waitress proceeded to say, "Coke, right?" Pouring Coke over The Macallan should be a hanging offensive akin to ordering a well-done steak. I explained that I wanted club soda or seltzer or carbonated water. (Believe it or not, I've actually had idiots put tonic in my Scotch and soda and then argue with me about it.) She returned one more time and asked if I wanted it neat or rocks. At this point I just said, "rocks". When it arrived I made my own highball with the water they put in front of you in a fancy bottle.

Overall, I would recommend this place very highly. You should probably be drinking beer there though.
