Never had it. Not that I would avoid it, but not making any special trip for it. When I see a CHEF open a burger place, I have this feeling that the they are trying to be a Gourmet Burger and just charge more for the fresh ground burger with quality toppings, but shouldnt it just be that way?

Now I see they are going for an IPO? $17-$19 a share.

Had it once. It's good but I didn't have to wait in line, so that probably helped.
If I was in the area and there wasn't a line around the block I'd eat it again.

I'll wait for the expert to come in and tell me how I'm wrong though

A chef opened Shake Shack? I thought it was just a chain out of New York.

What's it like? What does it compare to? Red Hot Ranch? M Burger? Or is it higher end than that?

and btw, if you haven't been to Red Hot Ranch its very good. Ashland and Barry in the old burrito place on the corner. Its set up like a hot dog stand so not fancy, but food is a step up from your typical stand.

I've never been to either of those, but everybody raves about RR.
It's on my list, for sure.

It more of an "upscale" burger place, but not fancy, if that makes sense. I can't really think of a place locally that is similar (that I have been to).

I've been to the Shake Shake that's in the park with the dog-run near mid-town (Madison Sq Park?). Spring in NYC, great atmosphere to hang out in a park and eat a burger with draft beer. But the burgers, like so many "best of" burger joints (Hodad's on Ocean Beach in San Diego), are not made to order. Don't get the point of well-done red meat. Image

Doesn't have to be well-done, but I love some charring.

Never heard of it until recently. I always thought of Ruby's Shake Shack in Newport with the Billion dollar view, and other locations.

Speaking of overrated burger joints I finally got around to trying Edzo's in Evanston over the weekend.

Truffle and parm fries were excellent.
Shake was excellent, but small for $5

Burger was a dried out, over done burnt disgrace. They have 4oz griddle and 8oz char, went with a 4oz double. They don't ask you how you want the 4oz's done since they are small, but I assumed the default cooking temp wasn't going to be overdone.

The Sugar Shack goes both ways, I believe, though not to enviable destinations.

billion dollar view? dude, have you ever stopped and wondered why a bunch of ancient people trapped out in the middle of the desert started having these definitive visions of god and whatnot? there's a definite correllation there.

huh? no i was making fun of the innate barrenness of staring out into the ocean. but since you asked, i reckon god's doing just fine and he has a twitter account because any sort of self-respecting deity would create a reality where the retained the ability to pull a nelson muntz and point and laugh. living life out in the middle of a barren desert and discovering the fundamental meaning to everything = a tad bit disingenuous in my book. you're in a desert.... if san diego has taught me anything, you're not supposed to live there.

They mistakenly doubled my order, so I was able to hook up someone on the street w/ the extra.
