We will be going here the night before Thanksgiving. Beer list looks awesome. I hope Wig Splitter and HammerHeart Och Hati are still around.

Menu looks damn good. Anything specific I should be ordering?

Place is great. Get the schnitzel (any of the variations will do). Why the day before Thanksgiving though, seems like that would be a super busy day? Also they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays so keep that in mind.

Beer list rotates very frequently so it's unlikely those beers will be there a month from now.

I'm sure it's going to be busy but it's my day off work for that week and We're going to relatives in Wheaton for Thanksgiving. My brother in law knows I like German food and beer and he loves this place. If the food is good, I'll wait.

The schnitzel is boss.

You're going to love it. The food is great.

Try the Scotch egg. I've never really had anything there I didn't like. As stated, very good schnitzel. I like the Tiroler.

Cheddar ale soup is also top notch.

That all sounds good. I also like the sounds of the Hunter's Schnitzel.

Also very good. Tremendous beer selection.

I don't have a bad word to say about the place.

...except one of the servers is a bit of a jagoff. But I got past it.

Scotch eggs! Also, pierogi, but that goes without saying.

Ha. Perfect your obscure German beer pronunciations in the bathroom prior to ordering or you will pay dearly. That it exists in the western burbs is a minor miracle. It's actually Lodge. If you call it Lounge you will be removed from the premises.

Or just order American beers.

Is it ok to talk about clean diesel engines, a mythical German creation that apparently does not exist?

I have a love/hate relationship with this place. Every time I go, which is about 4-5x/year with different friends or family, I think the food is going to be better than it is, unless I stick to the goulash and the cabbage. The food is good, but I just always think it's going to be better than it turns out being.

I find that Sunday afternoon when they first open is a great time to go and hang out at the bar.

Is this Hans Bavarian Lodge? I thought that place was in Wheeling. I went to an awesome Oktoberfest there in my youth but I heard it closed down.

I ate there over the weekend.

I have to revise my earlier comment. I prefer the wiener schnitzel over the tiroler although they are both very good. Actually the chicken schnitzel with the red cabbage and mustard is very good as well.

Food was very good. Beer selection was underwhelming. Though I should say it's stout season, and I'm a hop head. My luck, they tapped Zombie Dust the next day. Damn you

Also, they have that yellow tape on the ground with signs stating to KEEP THIS LANE CLEAR, since staff uses it for bringing out youge trays of food. Kudos to the waiters/waitresses for not murdering the idiots who completely disregard the signs. I was annoyed as hell just watching from afar.
