I play both, but usually 12 inch in the Spring and in the Fall and 16 inch over the summer. I think 16 inch takes more skill and 12 inch always screws up my arm. What do you guys think?

My vote goes for the foot long only because I'm going through 16" denial up here in GR. I have a clincher in my bag and everyone up here thinks the game is a joke and a myth. I usually huck the ball at their crotch and make them take it back. 2 totally different games and especially if it's co-ed vs. men only. I'm playing 12" on co-ed and men only this year and men only reminds me more of baseball then softball and co-ed reminds me of tourtore or gym class in 5th grade.

I voted 12 inch. I can hit the ball farther and I get a better grip on the ball. 16" is way too big for my small hands. I have to change my throw and it screws me up.

Spaulding, Ive played on a couple of co-ed teams for 12 inch and I've noticed that the women who played softball in college or high school feel the need to throw the ball as hard as they can every single time. It doesn't matter how far apart you are from them or if there is an actual play going on or not. Did you play softball in school and can you explain this?

Depends on the co-ed league. Some women feel they have to prove themselves. You want to get the ball to your target as quick as you can. You don't want to be the girl that isn't good or couldn't get the out.

Been playing 12 inch for 12 years now. When I'm old and washed up I'll switch to 16 I guess.

12 inch sucks. If you are going to play with a mitt use a goddamn baseball, pussy.

I refuse to play co-ed softball. There is always a douchebag on the other team wearing baseball pants and batting gloves who hits it at a girl because he wants to win. I have a hard time not making a comment or 20 about what a pussy he is and I end up getting pissed over a stupid game when the only reason I'm playing is to get drunk and hopefully laid after the game.

I somewhat know what you mean Keyser. I dont particulary enjoy coed either because I find your team is as good as the girls on them. I have played with some girls that are absolutely amazing, but my fiancee wanted me to play with her in a tournament once and we had a couple girls play that obviously hadn't touched a softball before and its just not fun to get beat by slaughter everytime.

16 inch is for fat 40 year olds in beer leagues.

Or for people who live in relevant municipalities with limited park space.

I use the mitt for the 28+ baseball league I'm in, might as well get more use out of it in softball.

I've played 12" a couple seasons and almost got killed playing 3rd base.

After the humiliating experience of striking out once in tee ball, and then finding out years later from my brother that being the catcher in tee ball was kind of joke (hey, there COULD have been a play at the plate!), I kind of avoided softball. I subbed one time on my husband's co-ed teamwhen they would have had to forfeit without another girl. I didn't get a hit, but I did advance a runner.
